Chapter 44: Children

On the way there, the fam was just talking about some random topics to lighten the mood, hoping that Krux's reversal power could do something for the kids. But what if his power couldn't do anything? And Acronix was surprisingly silent for once. Everyone took note of that.

"Acronix, dear. What's wrong?" Asked Cyrus.

"It's just... I want another kid..." Acronix answered. "Maybe two..."

There was a hint of sadness in his voice. He tried his best not to cry, but he cried anyways. It pained both Cyrus and Krux to see Acronix sad. It seems that having children around made him happy. Maybe he is ready for full time parenthood. Cyrus decided to just get on a device and start the adoption process online.

"Let's see if anything happens. They're still alive."

His hands lit up yellow as he gently placed a hand on each of their chests. It works for him, it undid the effects of the Time Punch, so why wouldn't it work in a situation like this? But... nothing was showing.

"Just give it time to work, not everything is immediate."

"B-But I'm used to it being immediate!"

He got a kiss from his husband.

Two hours have passed and nothing has happened yet. They decided to leave for now and come back either later today or tomorrow, as they needed to give it time to work.

Once they were home, Cyrus got a phone call. He answered the call once Acronix was in their bedroom. He soon went into the room.

"How are you feeling?" He asked.

"Still sad." Acronix replied.

He was all wrapped up in the blankets, laying his head down on a bunch of pillows and crying a bit.

"I have something to tell you." Cyrus said.

"What is it?" Acronix asked.

"Since you said you wanted kids... I started the adoption process online in the car. We're getting kids soon. A boy named Cody, and a girl named Valentine." Cyrus replied.

"Really?! We're getting kids?!" Acronix said with excitement.

"Yes we are. I don't like seeing you sad." Cyrus said. "And I know that Pixal isn't always going to be around since she's... out on the battlefield. And I worry for her..."

"So do I." Acronix said. "But at least she'll have siblings."

"True." Said Cyrus.

The two then kissed.

A couple days have passed and the new kids were introduced into the household. They decided to put them in the guest room for now until they could properly set up a room.

The children were informed that they had cousins around their age in the hospital. They wanted to go see them but at the same time they wanted to stay home.

They wandered downstairs and into the kitchen/dining room, where one of their uncles was preparing some food for lunch. They then walked out of the kitchen, now knowing that food wasn't ready yet. They walked into the living room, seeing that Acronix was now on the couch, sitting there looking a bit sad. They immediately cuddled up with him.

"Don't be sad, dad! I don't like it when people are sad..." Cody said.

"It's just... I'm worried for my brother... and your cousins..." Acronix said.

"Didn't uncle Chris say something about uncle Krux's reversal power doing something for them?" Valentine asked.

"He did... but the effects haven't shown yet..." Acronix answered. "But now I'm sleepy."

And soon, lunch was ready and the children helped Nixie up. They walked into the kitchen/dining room and sat down at the table. The mood seemed to have lightened now that there was the presence of children again.

After lunch was over, the fam was free to do whatever they wanted to do. Acronix decided to go take a nap, since he said he was sleepy. The kids snuggled up with him, since they didn't want to see him sad. Levi was passed out on the couch. Chris and Krux were doing you know what upstairs and Cyrus was reading something out in the living room. He wanted to give his injured husband as much space as possible.

A few hours have passed and Acronix had woken up from his nap, only to see that the children were there. He felt so happy being a parent. Small children made him so happy. And then the family had some family bonding time, and this time... Krux was the one who was getting sleepy. He then passed out on the couch.

.....

A couple of minutes have passed and Chris went to go check on Krux. And when he did, he immediately woke him up.

"Why did you... wake me up?" Krux asked.

"Babe, you were snoring obnoxiously." Chris replied.

"And?" Krux said.

"Chris." Said Levi as he was coming downstairs.

"Yes?" Chris asked.

"He probably stopped breathing and then started breathing again and then the cycle probably repeated." Levi said.

"So do we take him to a doctor?" Chris asked.

"If you think so." Levi replied.

"People snore all of the time. It's no big deal." Krux said.

"We're taking you to a doctor." Chris said before picking Krux up and carrying him to the car. "I've put up with this long enough."

A few days have passed and Chris and Levi have done something to deal with this, but it made their partner very uncomfortable. So they decided to try another method. It seemed to work much better than the first one. Adjusting his sleep position also worked. It was fine after that, but they will go back down to the doctors to check up on him in a few weeks.

But once it hit eight am, the household was downstairs eating breakfast.

"I hope that there's an update on the kids' condition." Chris said.

"But we're fine?" Said Cody.

"Wait... he didn't tell you two that you have cousins?" Chris asked. "Or did you forget that someone told you two and you know? Because I forgot if I told you both or not."

"No." Valentine replied.

Krux and Acronix were looking at each other.

"You didn't tell them?" Krux asked.

"It hurts to tell someone about someone who is in pain." Acronix answered. "It makes it even worse for your mental state when you do..."

"That's... understandable." Krux said.

"Well, shall we finish up and go down to the hospital?" Chris asked.

"Sure." Levi said, looking dead tired.

"Honey, go back to sleep. You look awful." Chris said.

"...thanks." Levi said.

They finished breakfast up, got dressed, and headed out the door. And it seems like everyone had forgot that Blaire and Noah were mentioned.
