Chapter 4: Surprise Visit

Today, the Ninja were visiting the small village of Waterville. All of the rivers and the scenery was just so beautiful and serene. The children were laughing and playing, the adults watching and working to help the village thrive, and everyone was just having a good time. Once the Ninja approached the village, they were greeted by the children, and then by the adults.

"So glad to see you here!" Someone said.

"What happen in that field back there?" Jay asked.

"Ari? Care to explain?" That person said.

"I was walking around and then I saw two men who were all bloodied and were unconscious. They had dented armor and one of the village elders recognized them." Ari said.

"Men? Armor?" Cole said.

"Yes. I recall them having some red on their armor. And it wasn't blood." Ari said.

"Hair color?" Lloyd said.

"Black." Ari said.

"Where are they?!" Kai asked.

"Who?" Nya asked.

"Krux and Acronix!" Kai replied.

Everyone gasped.

"Y-You know them?!" Ari said, shocked.

"Yes! They attacked the city once! Tried to control all of Time!" Kai said.

"Kai. Please calm down. If they had fallen, their armor had to have protected them if they survived." Zane said.

"If I see them....." Kai started to say.

"No. No attacking." Nya said. "There are small children in this village and someone could get hurt."

They walked into the village, and were given a tour. They met with the village elders and were given more of a backstory on the Time Twins. They met with the mayor.

"Hello Mr. Mayor!" Lloyd greeted.

"Hello Ninja, thank you for visiting our lovely village we call Waterville!" He greeted back. "We are going to celebrate your visit today."

"Is there going to be cake?" Cole asked.

"There is going to be cake." The mayor answered.

Everyone went to go to the village square, but Zane broke off of the group and walked around. He walked into the medical building, where the medic was talking to the twins.

"Hello! I am Ms. Sally, the village medic!" Sally said.

"Hello." Zane said.

The twins looked over at him, fear in their eyes.

"I'm not going to hurt you." Zane said.

"How can we be sure?" Acronix asked.

"How do we know that you're not going to backstab us?" Krux asked.

Zane sighed.

"Are you two alright?" Zane asked.

"Acronix can't hear you that well and Krux can't see you that well. But other than that, they're fine." Sally replied for them. "You should go back to your group, they can't know that they're here."

"They already know, but aren't going to attack yet. Nya said for Kai not to attack." Zane said before leaving.

The celebration started and Cole was all over the cake. Zane talked to Nya.

"So it is true. The twins are here." Nya said.

Zane nodded. Nya sighed.

"If this condition they are is true, then Kai can't attack." Nya said.

"I said that the village medic said that which it originally came from the twins." Zane said.

The other four boys walked over to the medical building, Zane and Nya ran to them.

"KAI NO!" Nya shouted.

Kai laid eyes on the twins, they were now standing and frozen in fear, they started to shake.

"Don't act like you're scared." Kai said.

"You two have caused enough pain to Ninjago." Lloyd said.

Cole cracked his knuckles and Jay readied himself for attack. Kai was all ready for a fight.

"KAI!" Nya shouted again.

"ARE YOU SERIOUSLY GOING TO HURT SOMEONE WHO CAN'T SEE VERY WELL AND SOMEONE WHO CAN'T HEAR VERY WELL?!" Zane asked, in a yelling voice.

Kai didn't listen and acted on impulse, soon, the building was on fire, and then it spread to the next, and the next, and the next. It kept spreading like a wildfire. Nya and Zane tried to put it out to the best of their ability, but all they could do was contain it.

Damn it.

Everyone looked at Kai. Nya looked the most angry.

"Kai. YOU JUST BURNED DOWN A WHOLE VILLAGE!" Jay said.

"It was an accident!" Kai said, trying to defend himself.

"Everyone here is homeless." Cole said.

"You're lucky that everyone got out ok." Lloyd said.

"Even the Twins." Zane added.

Nya just slapped him.

The people kept walking to Ninjago City. The twins were tired, scared, homeless, and beyond angry.

"They're gonna pay." Krux said.

"What comes around, goes around." Acronix said.

Everyone kept walking, the twins' hands were lighting up again, as the voice of their mother played in their heads, sending another message to never give up.

They were done. They were done with it all. Good thing one of the villagers got a high paying job in Ninjago City. They didn't know what to do anymore. They didn't want to be homeless, and neither did everyone else. Everyone took what they could with them.

What would the people in the city think if they saw the twins again? Would they get jumped? Beaten? Arrested? All of the above? They were just so scared. They didn't know what to do and who to trust. The group stopped to rest for the night. The twins cried themselves to sleep.

The sun had risen and everyone was on the move again, they needed food. Everyone was hungry. The twins were in pain again. They needed a more proper medical treatment. Soon, they would be arriving in Ninjago City, the place where they could live. Where they could find a place to call their home.

The twins wanted to go back to the good times in their lives. They didn't want this. They wanted nothing more than to be left alone for a while. People were scary. And their trust issues only worsened. It didn't have to be this way, but it is. Their mother always said that things happen for a reason, whether it's good, bad, or unknown. There's always, ALWAYS a reason for it.
