Anastasia had led Dominique to the tutorial center not too far from the fortress, and it turned out that Anastasia also studied there. The manager of the center had told Dominique about their fees and timing, and after weighing her options, she accepted to begin the tutorials.

She had to put into consideration her job at the club, and also her income, and so, she chose to have her tutorials in the early mornings, and at an affordable price that would definitely not leave her bankrupt and broke. Even with all things working out for her, she still had to be careful, after all, times do change...for the worst, or for the best.

The following day, she began her tutorials in the center, and it started even better that she had proposed. The teachers were much friendly, and easy to follow along, and after her first class, the manager had called her and briefed her on her progress.

He spoke to her that she was catching on quite well, and with a lot of reading, and active study, she might be able to sit for the West African Examination. Dominique could hardly belief her ears, but a saying says that 'you've got one life to live, why not make every decision count?' and so, she agreed to register for that year's paper.

This, however, meant that she had a lot on her plate now. She had work, and an examination to prepare for. If there is one thing she's certain of, it is the fact that as long as it's readable, then it's answerable.

The following weeks passed on quickly, and quite too fast – this must be because she had busied herself with life, and the fun things around her. Life had taken a better toll on her, she was at the brink of achieving one of her deepest dreams, she had a job in a country that many were jobless, she had a good boss, and lovely co-workers, she had great roomies whom were not only her friends, but had suddenly become the sisters she never had.

Ever since the incident in the bar, she and Joe had gotten much closer – not in the way that must people thought as Joe treated her more like a daughter. He was always watching her moves, and always called her in if he saw that she was headed the wrong way. She felt moved by his actions, and told Genesis that his daughter must be the luckiest.

Gen told Dominique that Joe had been married twice, and both marriages had produced daughters for him. His first daughter was his most treasure gold, but she was taken away by her mother who was a French woman. This broke him, and for a while he remained single, but then he met his second wife and they also had a daughter, but this time around, he lost them both to a fatal accident, and ever since then, he had remained single and focused on his club houses.

Dominique could not help but pity Joe, he had been through so much, but no one will ever guess this with how strong and brave he had made himself. After hearing his story, she began to respect him even more.

One day as she was headed back from the club, down the dark street, she saw some men afar around their parked bikes. Seeing them made her recall the very first time she had met Alexander, but she pushed away that thought, and walked on.

"Minnie?"

She heard someone call her from the group, and as much as she wanted to know whom called her, she kept walking faster from them.

"Hey, Dominique!" The same person called after her, and seemed to follow her. She ignored his call, and kept walking faster. The person also quickened his steps to her.

"Slow down, please."

She kept walking, as she heard the person get close to her. He ran to her, and gripped her arm from behind, she instantly turned to face the person with anger in her eyes, but her anger melted as soon as she recognized who he was.

"Oak?"

Noah smiled, "Finally. Where were you running to?"

She shook off her shocked expression and smiled, "It's late. I need to get back."

Noah snickered, "Of course."

She nodded, "Well, I got to go. It was nice seeing you again, Noah." She said, and turned to leave.

"He has been searching for you." Noah's voice stopped her, as she froze on her feet, "He has never been the same ever since you left. He was so worried. He searched everywhere."

She could not belief her ears, and even if it was true, she didn't want to hear anything about him. She sniffed back the tears that swelled up in her eyes, and faced Noah with a confident face.

"He shouldn't bother looking for me," She said, "and, I do think you shouldn't also mention seeing me." She added.

"But, this is so unfair, Dominique," Noah said, "He's been hurting all these while, wanting desperately to find you. He had no idea where you'd gone to; he did not know anything about you, and this drove him crazy."

She clenched her fist, as she fought back the urge to actually believe him. He shouldn't try to find her; at least, it's best for the both of them if she stayed away from him.

She looked up to Noah with her pleading eyes that glistered with tears, "Noah, please don't tell him you saw me," She begged, and Noah's face melted as he shook his head, but she held his hands and squeezed them, "I beg of you, Noah. It's only best that I stay away from him. I'm just bad luck to him, and I've done nothing but fuck his whole life up."

Noah still remained adamant, "I can't."

She moved closer to him, making sure her eyes bored into his, "Listen Noah, you'd be making the worst mistake of your life if you tell Alex that you saw me, cause you might end up losing your friend, and I don't wish that to happen. So, please don't. I beg of you." She said, and released his hand.

"I do hope you do this for the sake of your friendship." She added, before turning and walking away leaving Noah rooted on the spot.

Dominique walked away into the darkness; tears rolling down her cheeks as she did this. She did not deserve to be in his life, and so it's best if he never finds her. Alex didn't need her in his life. He never did, and he never will.
