After that heartening moment, things between the girls got much better, and for a change, they all began to see themselves as the ladies they had dreamed to be. Everything had changed the moment they all chose to let go of their deepest secrets, and cry out their pains. Dominique, in particular, felt like a huge load had been lifted off her, and she could now breathe freely, and take in the open air.

Who said being free was not a necessity? She could not explain the feeling in her, all she knew was that she wasn’t the same lady she was a few days ago.

This attitude actually followed her everywhere she went to; the club, the tutor center, the hostel, and even, the market. This was the change she definitely needed, and she wasn’t afraid to face anything. Well, almost everything. She still had that soft spot in her that made her recall Alexander Canaan, but as soon as she remembered Matthew’s words, she instantly hardened up.

Yet, she made up her mind to let herself be led by fate. If they were meant to be, then she would find the courage to say to Alex in the presence of his family that she loved him. Till such time comes, she’ll live her life to the best.

Soon, it was three months after she had joined the Lovers Club, and this coincidentally fell to the date which marked the tenth anniversary of the club. That day, the Clubhouse was filled to its brim with different men and women from all over the state, and various bright colours lighted the floor. It was a small event, but the turnout made it look like a president was having his birthday.

However, this was great for the business, and definitely they were all excited to make that day memorable to the guest, and make it special for Joe. He deserved it, and even more for being the best boss, the fatherly figure to the three of them, and for making a home for them.

“I couldn’t believe the amount of people that came out,” Dominique uttered as she loaded the bottles of bear and wine into the trays laid out on the kitchen’s worktable.

“Believe it, or not, but today’s definitely special.” Genesis said with a cheerful smile as she took another tray, and walked to Dominique, “To the guests, to us, and to Joe.”

Dominique smiled, “Yes, to Joe.”

Genesis nodded, as she moved out of the kitchen to serve the drink on. Dominique also grabbed a tray, and walked out with her warmest smile.

The hall was filled with bodies that grinded together to the upbeats coming from the DJs stand. Several hands were raised up, as they chanted and moved their bodies along with the rhythm of the song.

She smiled to herself as she saw how the night had already begun, and it looked like it couldn’t be more perfect. She moved through the dancing humans, as some picked from her tray, and soon, she was empty. She turned back to go back for a refill, but she felt a hand on her arm.

She turned to the person, and even though the room had low lights, she could make out his face, and his lips shifted at his edges to form the smallest smile she had ever seen.

“Hey.”

She could feel the anger boil through her as she looked at him, and she literally felt her veins stand as she clenched her jaws tightly, “What are you doing here, Andrew?”

His smile instantly faded off as he saw the dead serious expression in her eyes, “I saw you from afar, and decided to say hi.”

As much as she really wanted him out of her sight, she couldn’t afford to ruin this night for Joe, and the others, and so, she pulled on a smile, “Fine. You’ve said hi, and I’ve got to go.” She said, and shook away his grip.

“Why did you leave?” He asked, but she only huffed, and turned away and unto the kitchen. She slammed the kitchen door behind her as she cursed under her breath. Why did it have to be him? Of all the idiots in the world, she just had to meet him and right on the day she had to be on her best composure.

How was she going to act like all is fine with his ass hanging around the club all night?
