*****Minnie looked out the window of the jeep as the car sped through the busy streets of Lagos, and she smiled as the breeze blew against her, kissing her skin gently.
"You know you look like a kid right now," Alex laughed as he drove on.
She looked at him with a frown, "Is there a rule that says I can't act like a kid whenever I like?"
He laughed. "Not at all, fire. You actually look really cute."
She rolled her eyes at him, "Anyway, where are you taking me too?"
"Why?" He asked, "Don't you trust me?"
She laughed, "Oh, I do. I just don't trust your actions."
He laughed. "I couldn't possibly leave you at home, all by yourself. And, I can never allow you back at the club. So, I'm taking you to work with me."
She hummed softly, a sparkle in her eyes, "You mean you're okay taking me to your office?"
"Of course," He replied, his eyes on the road.
"What about your dad and your uncle?" She asked.
"My dad's at his own office and Vincent doesn't dare show his face at my company's premises," He said.
She narrowed her eyes as she watched the vein pop at the side of his neck. She noticed that he always refuses to talk about Vincent, and as much as she hated the man, she was confused about Alex's displeasure against his own uncle.
"What is with you and Vincent?" She asked.
Alex's grip on the wheel became hard, and the vein in his neck pulsed. "He's bad news, Minnie, you know that."
Her brows furrowed, "Yes, baby. I know Vincent is an immoral man, but not to you too right?"
"A bad person is always a bad person," He simply replied.
She could see that he did not want to talk about Vincent, and she didn't want to push it any further, so as not to ruin his mood.
So, she pulled on a smile, "So, what's your company like?"
He relaxed and burst into a cheerful laugh, "You can't hold your curiosity back, can you, Fire?"
She pouted, "You know that already, baby." She joked as she placed her hand over his shoulder, "So, tell me just a little bit to keep my curious self in check."
"I won't, fire." He refused, "You'll just have to see it yourself."
She batted her eyelashes at him, and he laughed harder, "Oh, you're such a bubble popper," She said, and playfully pinched his cheek.
"Alright, fire. We are soon there," He announced, and her eyes flew to the front as he drove off the bridge and into a tarred road.
Up ahead, she could see the tall office building, which stood uniquely different from the other buildings. The premises were bustling with action as Alex drove in, after being saluted by the officers at the gate.
Minnie gaped at the fascinating flower designs which carved the run-way, and her eyes widened at the well-appointed and dazzling building in front of her. Alex stopped the car at the entrance to the building, and got out of the car. He walked over to her side, and helped her out.
"What do you think of it?" He asked.
Still with her eyes wide, Minnie said, "This is really impressive, Alex."
Alex threw the keys to the valet who was waiting at the entrance with a smile, and he hurriedly got to the jeep, and drove it to the parking ground. With a dashing smile, he turned to her, and held out his arm for her. She smiled, and slipped her arm with his, and they walked in.
