四 (Four)

(Ryu's POV)

There was five minutes left until the hour was up. That's when Bianchi joined me on the floor.

He had his gun in his hand.

"How'd you do it?" He asked.

"Do what?" I asked turning my head his way.

"The bullet. My gun was empty when you disassembled it. Val was the only one with bullets. Unless you had one on you."

"I don't like guns or bullets."

"So how'd you do it?"

I gave him a smirk just as the hour was up. I put my knife away as I stood up and grabbed the door handle. Without another word, I pushed it open and went inside.

"あなたがそこに騒ぎを起こしているのを聞いたと思った." Doc said as is shut the door.
(Thought I heard you causing a commotion out there.)

"彼女は元気?" I asked.
(How is she?)

"良くない、リュウ。彼女はたくさんのことを経験しました."
(Not good, Ryu. She has been through a lot.)

"彼女は何か話しましたか?"
(Has she spoken any?)

"たった一度と三語だけ."
(Only once and only three words.)

I looked at him and that was all I needed to know what she said.

"私の仕事は終わりました。彼女は多くの睡眠を必要とします。痛み止めはベッドのそばにあります."
(My work is done. She needs lots of sleep. Pain pills are by the bed.)

"ありがとうございました."
(Thank you.)

He bowed before disappearing out the door.

I sat on the edge of the bed and looked at her. Really looked at her.

Cracked lips, face bruised all over, and hair a matted  mess. Doc didn't have to remove much to see her wounds because she was barely wearing anything. A thin skimpy nightgown. The rest of her body was just as bruised as her face. Her feet and left hand was wrapped in a bandage as well as her midriff.

"それはすべて大丈夫です、子猫." I whispered.
(It will all be okay, Kitten.)

I got up to leave when I heard a small groan. I looked back to see her eyes crack open.

"Ryu?" She croaked out.

"It's me, Koneko." I said.
("", Kitten.)

"So...happy to see y-you." She smiled. It was a smile that broke my heart.

Why?

Because she looked so broken.

"Me too. I've been looking for you. Searching everywhere. Didn't know you'd be in New York."

"Couldn't have known."

I gave her a kiss on her forehead. "Get some more sleep. When you wake, you can take a shower or bath."
