(Ryu's POV)

"泊まるか行くか?" I asked.
(Stay or go?)

"滞在." She said, pulling her legs up to her chest.
(Stay.)

I stood by the door and stared at her.

"I'll be fine." She said.

I pulled out my knife and threw it on the bed. She picked it up and held it in her hand.

"Hour and a half tops." I said and she nodded. "Use that-"

"On anyone but you. I got it, Ryu."

I let out a sigh and left the room.

"Where to first?" Vince asked as I walked out of the house.

"You're coming with me?"

"I told you that I'm going to help you."

I stopped dead in my tracks causing him to bump into me.

"Why? What do you get out of this? You're acting like a kid on Christmas morning. Not very Il Diavolo of you." I said turning to face him.

He sighed. "I'm getting old."

"Obviously."

"I'm getting old and, honestly, things at home are a little boring. Valentine does a lot of things for me now and is my brute force. Enzo runs the books mostly and is the talker. Plus, I've been enjoying my days at home with my wife and babysitting the grandkids. I need some excitement. People trying to kill me is getting boring. This here....this is exciting. Also, you intrigue me."

I rolled my eyes and started walking again. "Getting burnt out on this life are you?"

"I been in this life since I was born. Been through more shit with my family than a lot of people. I've killed more people than you can count. It's become sort of a routine. Someone tries to hurt me or my family, I hunt them, I kill them, everything is peaceful again, and then it all starts over."

"And what? I offer you excitement now?"

"When I took the meeting with Nakamura, I didn't know you'd be there. I'm glad you were because I was going to ask if he could set up a meeting with you for me. See, Takahashi, I've been interested in you for a while now. That's how I already knew so much about you."

"You've studied me."

"Kind of. I've studied what people who've met you said. It's not much considering you're rarely seen. When people do see you, they have no idea who you are or what you've done."

"What I've done?" I said as we turned down an alley way, a shortcut to my destination.

"In this world, women are viewed more as possessions than anything else. But at the age of sixteen, I took out a warehouse full of men all to save one. I murdered my father with my own hands to save my woman. I became Il Diavolo for her. But you...." he reached out grabbed my arm.

Instinctively within seconds, I had him pinned to the wall. I cursed under my breath and released him as he chuckled.

"The blood on your hands at the age of thirteen, that's the stuff of legends. You didn't do it for a woman. You did it...that's the thing isn't it? No one knows why you did it. No one knows how you did it. They just know that you left one standing. Your boss. Why? Why him? Because you got to him last? Because you helped you do it?"

I didn't respond.

"No, he didn't help you. You didn't know him, but he knew of you. He knew you were coming for him. How did he get you to stop? What did he have that you wanted? What did he say?"

I spun around and pushed him against the wall.

"He met me at the front door. I held my knife to his throat and he did nothing. He stared me in the eyes while I dug my knife into his neck. I was inches away from slicing his carotid artery open when he spoke."

"What'd he say?"

"He said he could help me find her."

"Aria?"

"It was the first time we were separated after we met."

"You didn't start killing because of her. You stopped." He said and I let him go.

"Her mother had taken her and ran. Her father was dead by then. Since her mother had connections to the Yakuza, he had ways to find them. It took a year and I'd decided I was going to give him another week or else he was gone. The next day, I was sitting on the roof when a car pulled up. It was one of his men and she was in the backseat. That's why he isn't dead. Now shut up or go back home."

He stayed quiet the rest of the time as we walked. It wasn't that far so I didn't bother getting a taxi.

"Where are we?" Vince asked as we walked up the front steps of a building.

"It's the best place to go to get information." I said opening the door.

We walked inside to find the place almost empty. Not unusually for this time of day.

The people that were there stared at us. They actually stared at Vince. He stuck out like a sore thumb.

"They're watching you." He whispered.

"No, they're watching you. They're afraid of you."

"They know me?"

"Everything about your appearance gives you away to those who are in our world."

"They aren't afraid of you? Just me?"

"Like you said, I'm rarely seen and when people do see me, they don't know who I am."

"They don't know you're Akuma."

"Precisely." I said walking up to the bar. "栄一さん、お元気ですか?"
(Eiichi- san, how are you?)

"いいね。 お元気ですか?"
(Fine. How are you?)

"良い。 最近、佐藤の部下を見たことがありますか?"
(Good. You seen any of Sato's men around lately?)

"しばらくの間。 明治通りをぶらぶらしているのを聞いた."
(Not for a while. Heard they've been hanging around Meiji-dori.)

"ありがとうございました."
(Thank you.)

As soon as we got outside Vince started talking.

"What is Meji-dori?"

"A place here in Tokyo. Sato is another boss. His men usually hang out here, but lately business hasn't been good so they've been moving around. Trying out new locations."

"So we're going there next?"

"Yeah." I said before looking him over.

"What?" He asked looking down at himself.

"Is your gun loaded this time?"

"Yes."

"What about your second and third one?"

"How'd you know about-"

"I'll take that as a yes."

"Why does that matter? I'd they're loaded or not?"

"Cause you might need them."

"What about you? Where is your knife?"

I smirked. "Don't worry. If need be, I'll just borrow one of theirs."
