The next morning the alarm goes off and Nadia and Sid wake up."Hey baby we are heading to Tanzania today and we are going to climb Mount Kilimanjaro. It will take us all day." Sid says.
"Awesome. Is it safe for the kids to do? Or us for that matter since we are pregnant." Nadia asks.
"It is safe for both . We checked before we booked it." Sid says.
"Okay." Nadia says.
"Yeah I am excited. It's something me and Kris have always wanted to do together." Sid says.
"Well now you are." Nadia says.
They both get up and get dressed. Sid grabs the luggage and they head out into the main lounge. Everyone meets there. The girls then go and and get the kids up and ready and into their carriers. They they head out to the vehicle that would be transporting them to the airstrip. They arrive and the guys grab the luggage while the girls get the kids on board. Once everyone was on and they were cleared to they took off. They all snoozed during the short flight. A little bit later they land in Tanzania. The guys grab the luggage and the girls grab the kids. They get off the plane and into the car waiting for them. They head to the hotel. They check in and head up to the penthouse. They go inside.
"Lets build the fort for the kids so we can take a nap. Climbing that mountain is going to be a long day." Taylor says.
"Are you sure you girls can do it pregnant?" Jake asks.
"Yes and the medicine you take for altitude sickness isn't harmful to the babies either." Nadia says.
"What about the kids?" Justin asks.
"Yes can they do it?" Autumn asks.
"The little ones can't but there is a day care at the base for them. They will be safe there until we come back down and get them." Sid says.
"Yes we wouldn't have booked it if it wasn't safe for everyone." Kris replies.
"Okay sounds good." Geno says.
"Yes lets get this fort built so we can get a nap in before we have to report to the mountain." Anna says.
They set to work making the fort for the kids. They then get the kids who were still sleeping settled in. They part ways to take their naps. Nadia and Sid head into their room. Sid sits the luggage down. He then packs a bag for them to take with them. They then lay down.
"Get some rest baby." Sid says.
"I am, you too. I can't wait to climb and take pictures." Nadia says.
"It will be cool." Sid says.
They snuggle together drifting off into a much needed sleep.
A little bit later that morning the alarm goes off and Nadia and Sid wake up. They both get dressed in their climbing gear. They then head out into the living room. Everyone meets there. They get the kids up and ready and then head down to the lobby where they meet a guide and a mountain support crew and they have a quick briefing, after which they travel by vehicle to Kilimanjaro National Park's entrance: Machame Gate (1,800 m). The little kids get settled into the day care. After the quick formality of acquiring climbing permits and registering with the search and rescue service, the group will start trekking up to Machame Camp (3,010 m). The trekking route includes passage through the rainforest (where tropical showers are highly probable), so as recommend they had spare clothes and also raincoats. This is the first time at this altitude, so it is strongly recommended to heed the following instructions from this point on: Abstain from consuming alcohol and caffeine, Drink over 4 liters of bottled water daily (little by little, frequently), take a Diamox pill to help alleviate symptoms of altitude sickness. They all took it before they started the climb. They stop and have breakfast.
