"Emily." Her eyes go empty. Luke is steady trying to avoid eye contact with me.

I can't believe it. My mother, my father, and my three brothers in the same room. My room. What the hell?!

"What are you doing here?" I question dryly.

"We..."
"Saw you on the news and..." My dad tries to cut her off but she turns around and stops him immediately.
"No. No more lies. Emily, we were called after you went missing. He said the man leading your search would send you home if they found you. The after you were found, we were so happy. All those years believing you were dead then here you are. Here you are." She repeats with a gulp. Her eyes wide as she tries to "subtly" gesture to Cass.

I whip my head to Luke and his face has gone completely pale. Of course he knew and probably wasn't even gonna tell me.

"Yeah. Here I am. But you still never told me what you're doing here. You see why I left, nothing's keeping you here." I shrug.

"Come on, sis. Don't be like that." Daryl my eldest brother tries to shift the tension. "It's been a long time. Can't we just be civil?" He asks.

"Fine." I sigh.

"So? Who's this?" He asks and everyone takes a seat.

"Cass. My son." I look down at him but send a quick glare my mum's way. I'm not surprised to see her giving him the stink eye.

"Oh. When did we get a new addition?" Murphy the youngest asks. He's never been good at reading the room.

"Around the tim I left. Kinda why I left." I nod Stiffly. Cass is just fidgeting with my fingers and I can almost hear Luke praying for the moment to be over.

"Well, he's a beautiful boy. If only he we're under different circumstance." She pats my dads knee and I roll my eyes.

"And there it is. So mum, what else do you wish you could enjoy but can't because sin?" I ask.

"Emily. She's trying to be nice." Edgar my twin tries to intervene. He's not really my twin. Im older than him by seven months but we're born the closest together.

"Oh. I'm sorry, Eddy. Now that I'm a mother these motherly instincts make me a bit over protective. So I don't take kindly to seeing someone eye down my child." I clear my throat at her and she huffs.

"Well, can you blame me? This goes against everything we believed in. Your father and I didn't kiss without a chaperone until after our wedding. There's just a right way to do things and a wrong way. And because you did it the wrong way, God is going to punish you."

"Edith." My dad hisses.

"No, dad. You know what, this is exactly why I left the way I did. Four years and the first thing you say is, "Emily, God will punish you." Really?" I ask? No answer. Now she has nothing to say? "Just, get out. I knew letting you around him would be a mistake and waste of time." I shake my head, leaning back to cuddle Cass.

"We're so sorry, love." My dad says standing to lead everyone out. "Well be in the area is you wanna try again." He offers before he's gone.

"Who called them." I turn to Luke.

"Calum did the first time. I told them where we'd be when we found you." He admits, standing to pace.

"They already thought I was dead, what were you thinking?" I ask.

"I had no choice. After the first call it just felt wrong. And they wanted to move her so they could continue the body search. I had to stop it. It'd already gone too far." He defends and I sigh. He does have a point. My parents love me in their own way, I wouldn't put it beside them to search for me, especially after finding out I was alive the whole time.

"Fine. I'll give you that. But what are we gonna do? I don't want them coming home with me." I admit.

"Let them stay for now. Then after the dust clears we'll figure it out, but you need to rest. This you don't need the stress." He tries to sooth me.

"I do not need rest. I've been resting for nine months. What I need is to take my son home." I lean back defeated.

"I'll bring both of you home the second the doctor says your good to go. I promise" he wraps his arms around us and turns the TV to a movie. For the first time in years, a man's touch makes me feel safe.
