Emily

I hear the door slam downstairs and but I refuse to sit up. "He probably left his keys on the coffee table." I tell myself until I start hearing footsteps coming up the stairs.

"Emily?" I hear his knuckles lightly tap on the other side of my door. I don't answer. "Em?" He knocks again.

"If you came to say goodbye there's no need." I finally sit up.

"Can I come in?" He takes my silence as a yes, pushing the door open and coming to sit on my bed.

"Mona and I are over." I open my mouth to cut him off but he raises his hand to silence me. "Don't get me wrong, Mona did make me happy. I even learned to accept the fact that she can get jealous at times, but that was way too much. She was way out of line and I'll make sure no one ever hurts you like that aging." He says grabbing my hand.

"You can't stop the inevitable." I pull my hand from his and stand up.

"What are you on about?" He rests himself on his knees.

"I checked in on you every once in a while to make sure we never ran into each other. I saw how your fans treated Mona when you announced your relationship. I understood why she was so clingy. She received so much hate I'm sure every time she told you she was fine it was just another brick on the pile, and Cass and I were the last straw."

"I never thought of it like that." He admits.

"No one expected you to. Just do us the kindness of keeping our identities a secret, please?" I ask and it's his turn to stand.

"Of course. Anything to keep you both safe." He leans his forehead onto mine but pulls away when we hear the front door fly open and the sound of Mattie and Cass screaming at each other fills the whole flat.

"Time for your first day on dad duty." I smirk, walking past him and onto the balcony where the whole lower flat is visible.
