The smirk on Jess' face was evident as she walked through the school gates. Today she decided to do something different. She was going to get her first friend.

"Manny!" The girl called out as she saw the boy walk across the hall. The taller was confused as to why the girl was talking to him. Not only did she state that she was not the 'friendly' type, but she was also confronted by his brother- and usually when people were confronted by his brother they left him.

Nevertheless, he smiled sweetly at the girl.

"Hi," he mumbled out shyly to the girl as she walked over to him.

"I was thinking and I want you to be my first friend," She wasn't lying, she wanted to be his friend, but to show people- especially manny's brother- that nothing stops her from doing what she wants.

The boy was confused to say the most but he smiled brightly, this was the first person who wanted to be friends with him even after being confronted by his big brother. Maybe it was because she didn't know who his brother and friends were. But he was glad she was standing in front of him.

"Yeh! I-i mean sure, that's cool" The taller blushed slightly.

"Now, where's art?" The girl smirked, content with how everything was going.

It was lunch and Jess already knew a lot about Manny. The boy opened up to the girl, hoping she'd do the same in return.

Jess knew he supported Liverpool, loved playing football and his brother, Tobi, was all he had.

The smaller felt sorry for the boy but her stone-cold face wouldn't show it- who would give their whole life story as soon as someone wants to be your friend anyway?

The two now sat underneath a tree just outside of the school and Jess had decided to tell Manny a few things about herself to diffuse the awkwardness surrounding them.

"Well in Scotland most feared me. I didn't have friends nor a boyfriend as I don't believe in love. I hate rich people and I hate my voice." The girl mumbled gently grasping the soft green grass that sat beside her.

Manny smiled softly before speaking, "Well, I like it"

"Parker! What did I say yesterday?!" The shout made the girl jump to her feet and grip her Rambo that laid in her waistband.

There stood Tobi and his friends towering over the small girl. "How do you know my last name?" The girl sneered, pulling the knife out slightly. The older laughed, dragging out a small Indian boy from the group.

"My friend here can do a lot of things, now Jessica Parker, how about we have a chat?" The boy almost growled out at the end.

Jess had laughed out, "I don't talk to people who I don't particularly like."
