A/N: this one-shot takes place in Hawkins, Indiana, where Stranger Things takes place. They are about 14-15 ish in this one-shot, and Eleven and Mike are best friends along with Dustin, Will, and Max. Also, Eleven doesn't have her powers, but she was still adopted by Hopper.
(Mike's POV)
Her brown curls fell so effortlessly on top of her gorgeous shoulders. Her smile shone so brightly it felt like I was staring at the sun. Her eyes sparkled in the light, like the stars that they were. She was gorgeous. Nothing but stunning. Even if I tried, which I never would, I wouldn't be able to find one part of her that I didn't adore. She had my whole heart, and whatever she needed, I would do my best to get it to her as fast as possible.
I was spacing out while thinking about her beauty. So much so that being in class was practically a waste of time.
"Michael, we're in class, not whatever void you're traveling to right now. Please come see me after class," Mr. Clarke announced. My cheeks were immediately flushed with embarrassment as I adjusted my posture to be more upright than the slouchy mess I was before. My eyes zoned in on the blackboard ahead, however, I couldn't get my brain to do the same. The only thing I was thinking about was how I was going to manage to tell her how I felt without disrupting the seamless relationship we had then.
Suddenly, I heard the obnoxious chime of the school bell signifying that class was dismissed. I picked up my books and reluctantly trudged over to the wooden desk that Mr. Clarke owned.
"Michael, do I need to remind you that there is a test tomorrow?"
Oh, shoot... I forgot about that.
I shook my head violently, trying my best not to let my expression give away the blunt lie.
"Good. Try and pay attention so you do well, I know you will, you just have to put in some effort to get the grades you want,"
I nodded and smiled, hopefully showing him that I understood enough to be let off the hook.
"Alright. Now go home and study! I hope I'm surprised by how well you're going to do,"
I smiled, thanked him, and walked out the door while simultaneously putting my head down to avoid other people walking in the same area. I turned out of the door before almost running into Will, my best friend.
"Hey, man, what did Mr. Clarke want? I mean, I know you were spacing out, but that's no excuse to humiliate you and make you look really stupid," he pondered.
"He just wanted to make sure that I knew the test was tomorrow and that I studied hard for it. Nothing exciting, really," I kept walking while talking, knowing Will would take the hint and follow me.
"Gotcha. Hey, what were you spacing out about anyway? Science is your favorite class, what is so important that it distracts you from it? Normally you're very on top of it, with notes and all,"
I stopped dead in my tracks. There she was. Beauty herself. Standing a mere 20 feet away from me. Her head nodded in agreement with Max, while they were talking about who knows what. I didn't care. All I cared about was her, and knowing she was happy.
Will kept walking, but eventually realized I had stopped.
"Dude, what are you doing? Are you okay? You keep zoning out," He briefly looked in the direction I was staring, oblivious to the truth about my feelings.
"what are you staring at? The only things in that direction are El and Max." Suddenly, Will gasped, looking as if he'd seen a ghost.
"OH MY GOD," He figured it out. He figured out my damn secret. "You like El!"
