Anira...
This could be a big problem. Perhaps they both went to find firewood. But it was known to all that Boromir struggled most with the power of the Ring. They were both gone meaning Boromir has an open opportunity to snatch the blasted thing.
"We have to find them." I stated, my voice tense.
"Yes. Legolas, Gimli, Anira. Come with me. The rest of you, stay behind."
Sam immediately started to protest. "Let us help you."
"It would be far better for you if you stay behind." I said placing my hand on Sam's shoulder.
"Anira is right. There is no knowing what lies in these woods." Aragorn said exchanging his glance at me.
"We will find them. Don't worry just keep yourselves safe."
It look a little more convincing but the hobbits eventually agreed with our decision. Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli and I instantly took off into the deep woods.
Aragorn bent down and studied the ground beneath him. "These tracks split in two," he explained. "We will cover more ground if we split up. Legolas, Gimli, go left. Anira, you're with me."
I looked over at Legolas. "Be safe." I whispered and hurried to follow Aragorn.
Aragorn's eyes hardly lifted from the ground. His eyes lifted up occasionally but they always went back down to the ground.
"What are you looking for?"
"Tracks." He indicated to a patch of grass. "Do you see how it has been flattened?"I peered at the patch of grass, seeing how it had been pressed to the ground. "That is a sign. Someone has been this way."
"Frodo?"
"Let us hope."
We quickened our pace. Aragorn continued to search for the tracks while I followed, my hand in the hilt of my sword. A light thump caused me to whip my head around to find the noise.
"That didn't sound like any Orc." I said quietly
We walked around a corner and sighed in relief. There lying on his back was Frodo.
"Frodo." I frowned to notice that he looked rather scared.
"It has taken Boromir."
"What?"
"The power. It - it got to him."
I suddenly felt protective wanting to wrap my arms around him as tight as I could. "Frodo are you-"
"Where is the Ring?" Aragorn demanded. I wanted to shout at Aragorn, acting that way would only scare him more.
Frodo scampered away as I suspected. "Stay way!" He shouted. Fear was clearly in his eyes.
"Frodo. We are not going to harm you."
"I don't believe you."
"Frodo! We swore to protect you."
"Can you protect me from yourselves?"
I sighed. "Frodo." I said gently. Concern filled me as I looked at the hobbit. What had Boromir done to make Frodo react this way? "Frodo, trust me. Trust us."
"Would either of you destroy it?"
I glanced at Aragorn and then back at Frodo. Slowly, he outstretched his hand and slowly uncurled his fingers to reveal the One Ring lying on his palm.
"Take me.." a voice whispered in my head. My eyes remained on the small golden ring. Strange, it is such small thing but filled with so much power. "I can give back what was stolen from you...destroy all that wronged you..." No, I will not become corrupted. I used every l last bit of strength left to ignore the burning desire to get my hands on the Ring.
