(Carter's POV)
I grabbed Sally's and Jimmy's wrists and dragged them up the stairs."What are you doing?" Sally asked.
"Hiding you," I said.
"You're actually going to hide me? Voluntarily?" Jimmy questioned. "From the guy who will shoot me on sight?"
"Well Jessie doesn't actually have any bullets," I admitted.
Jimmy laughed. "You think that wasn't obvious? Do you actually think I would approach a scared guy holding a gun to my face while I don't have my knife? Do you actually think I'm that stupid?"
"Yes," I mumbled.
I pulled them into my closet and pushed open the little secret door. Sally gasped in excitement and quickly crawled in with Jimmy tailing close behind.
"Stay here and be quiet," I ordered. Jimmy pushed Sally out of a bean bag chair to sit there for himself causing Sally to growl. "And no fighting."
I shut the door as the front door opened.
"I swear, it's like babysitting two year old's," I mumbled as I walked down the stairs.
"Hey, Carter" Jessie said. "You ready?"
"Ready for what?" I asked.
"Your meeting, with the counselor," Jessie said as though it were obvious. "Did I forget to put that in the note?"
"You may have forgotten that small detail." I held my thumb and index finger an inch apart. "Do I have to go? There's nothing wrong with me!"
"And they want to be sure of that," Jessie said.
"But I am completely fine," I whined. "I'm not completely insane or anything!"
"To be fair, at first you were all depressed and dressing in all black. Some of the things you said at first did sound a little suicidal," Jessie admitted then looked down and lowered his voice. "I really thought I was going to lose you. You scared me."
"I'm sorry," I whispered. "You won't lose me."
He wrapped me into a hug.
"I know I won't because I'll protect you," Jessie promised. "Even from that stupid Jimmy Casket."
Jessie's phone started ringing so he looked at it and sighed.
"I have to take this," Jessie said. "We're leaving in ten minutes."
I nodded and ran back up the stairs and into my closet. When I opened the door Jimmy and Sally were sitting on the green couch staring at something.
"What are you looking at?" I asked.
"Dd your brother call me stupid?" Jimmy asked, ignoring my question.
"Who's Joey?" Sally asked.
Jimmy turned to glare at Sally.
"Why do you want to know?" I asked.
"Because Joey Abbott just texted you and asked 'what's up?'" Sally said.
"How did you get my phone?" I asked, snatching it from her hand.
"You dropped it when you left," Sally said. "So, Who is he?"
"He's my boyfriend," I said.
"Boyfriend," Jimmy quietly repeated to himself.
"I'm going to be leaving in a few minutes so stay here until me and Jessie are gone and then leave," I instructed.
"How come you haven't told me about Joey before?" Jimmy asked.
