(Carter's POV)
I hopped into the passenger side of Anthony's black car. It's been two days since I saw Jimmy last. Anthony was taking me out to eat at Luigi's Pizzeria.

"You ready?" Anthony asked.

"I'm always ready for pizza," I joked.

We got to the restaurant ten minutes later and was seated at a table.

"So, how has your day been?" Anthony asked.

"Great," I said. "What's good here?"

My phone buzzed inside of my pocket. I looked down to see four new texts from Joey. I held down the lock button until it powered off.

"Is everything alright?" Anthony asked, noticing the sad look on my face.

"Yeah," I lied.

"Are you sure?" He asked.

No, I was cheated on then kissed by a boy who I have mixed feelings for, and he hasn't shown up in two days and I miss him, I thought but didn't dare say aloud. Instead I just shrugged and looked down.

Getting the memo that I didn't want to talk about it, Anthony changed the topic. "You should try the barbecue chicken pizza. It's amazing!"

"Sounds good to me," I agreed.

A tired looking middle aged women walked up with a small notebook in her hand.

"What would you like?" She asked.

"One large barbecue chicken pizza," Anthony ordered.

"And to drink?" The waitress asked.

"I'd like a Mountain Dew," I said.

"Me too," Anthony agreed.

The lady nodded and walked off through a door. I played with my napkin a little then looked up at Anthony who was smiling at me.

"What?" I asked, laughing a little.

"This is like a date," Anthony said.

"A-a date?" I asked in shock.

"Well, if you want it to be a date then it could be," Anthony said.

His cheeks turned red but he continued smiling.

"Oh, well, um," I mumbled awkwardly. "Well, you see, I'm sorta in a relationship but it's kinda complicated."

"Okay, no hard feelings," Anthony said, his voice slightly wavering. "Let's just pretend that never happened. J-just one question; who is this complicated relationship with?"

"It's a secret," I said.

"A secret?" Anthony repeated. "Are you just making this up so you don't have to date me?"

"No! I would never!" I gasped.

"Kidding, kidding." Anthony laughed. "I know you would never do that. You're too nice."

"I'm not too nice!" I denied.

"Yeah, you are," Anthony said.

"Nuh uh." I shook my head. "I can be mean if I want to."

"Really?" I nodded. "Okay, if you can be mean then I dare you to trip that waiter when he walks by."

He gestured to a short man holding three pizzas and making his way around the room.

"No! That's so mean!" I exclaimed.

"But you said, and I quote, 'I can be mean if I want to'," Anthony said.
