(Carter's POV)
I could hear Jimmy whining downstairs while I pulled my hair up into a ponytail. I was wearing a fitted black t-shirt, black leggings, and black boots."Carter!" Jimmy complained. "You're taking so long! I'm bored! Why do you always take forev-"
He stopped talking when I walked into the kitchen.
"What? Do I look like a killer or something?" I asked.
"You're killing my patience," he mumbled. "Let's go! I want to go on the bridge!"
Jimmy ran out the door, and I looked to Toast.
"He kind of likes bridges," he explained.
I nodded my head and walked out with Johnny. We got to the mackinac bridge in twenty minutes. As soon as we were on it, Jimmy pressed his face up against the window, smiling madly.
"Why do you like bridges so much?" I asked, laughing.
"They're amazing! At any moment they can collapse and kill thousands of people at once!" He exclaimed.
I looked over the edge to the dark waters far below.
"Thanks for scaring me," I said sarcastically.
"I wish I was a bridge," Jimmy muttered.
We drove off and Jimmy looked back at it glumly. His eyes slowly changed from the color red to blue. Ghost started rummaging through some objects before handing me a black belt. It had small pockets and compartments, it reminded me slightly of Batman's belt.
"Put this on," he instructed, then continued to pull out various objects. "Put these in it."
He handed me bobby pins, a flashlight, a spray I didn't recognize, a knife, and a necklace. I put the objects in compartments and the necklace around my neck.
"The necklace has a small camera in it so we can see what you see," he explained. "Put this in your ear so we can hear you and you can hear us."
He handed me a black comms unit. It was like the one spies wear in their ear. I put it in and Johnny yelled to test it. I jumped back, my ear ringing.
"Sorry," he said, trying to stifle a laugh. "Jimmy dared me."
"You could've said no," I mumbled.
"But it was a double dog dare," he clarified.
"You two are so immature," I murmured.
"We're here!" Toast announced. "Welcome to casa de blackmailers!"
I looked up at the large log cabin nervously. In the dark there wasn't much to see. All the lights were off in the house, and no cars were in the long path that lead up to the front walkway.
"Are you ready?" Ghost asked.
"As ready as I'll ever be," I confirmed.
We got out of the van and walked to the backyard. The large house towered over me as we walked up the back deck. Toast used his ladder to prop up against the side of the house.
"Milady," he said, gesturing towards the ladder.
I climbed up it and onto the roof, instantly crawling over to the chimney and wrapping my arms around it. The Johnny's followed behind me and started setting up their device. Ghost attached the wire to my belt, and interlaced his fingers. I put my foot on it, giving myself a boost to the top of the chimney.
"Don't go too fast," Toast instructed. "You should just fit so try not to touch the walls. You know how to do the rest."
I nodded and lowered myself down the chimney. I felt like a spy, being lowered into a room to steal something. The rope propelled my downwards until I made it out of the fireplace. I could feel ash on my arms and face, but couldn't see due to the darkness.
