As I sat in Morgan's living room, waiting on the pizza that she had ordered for the three of us, I couldn't shake the words she'd spoke about Luke out of my mind.
Every girl in the senior class is wondering.
What did that even mean? Every single girl that I am around five days a week is out to get my secret boyfriend? No, that's impossible. I'm just insecure.
But what if?
I couldn't stand a chance against some of the girls in my class. For fuck's sake, Tianna Weston is an instagram model. My pale skin, averagely sized ass, and small boobs could never compete. I prayed she didn't want Luke.
The more I thought, the more I hoped for exaggeration in Morgan's words. Come on, 78 girls all wanting one guy? Not likely. My senior class was small and close knit, but not small enough to where Luke was the only possible boy that was considered attractive.
And yes, not everything is about looks. Luke had the most brilliant, enticing personality I had ever encountered. I just hoped I was the only one to see that side of him.
How did every girl he spoke to not immediately fall in love?
"You good?" Luke, with a small squeeze of my hand, spoke from his spot on the couch next to me.
I solemnly nodded as Morgan, oblivious to anything around her, focused on the movie we had rented.
"Penny for your thoughts?" Luke quietly pressed.
I was just thinking about how my best friend told me every girl in our grade wants to know how big your dick is.
As if.
"I'm just tired," I continued, "Long day."
He brought my hand, still intertwined with his own, to his lips. My heart fluttered a bit, but Morgan's commentary interrupted our moment.
"How hard is it to get to a fucking party?" she shouted at the screen as Booksmart played. Luke had chose the movie.
I cuddled up to him as we watched in silence, but we were soon cut off by Morgan's phone ringing. She ignored it as it loudly chimed.
"Are you gonna answer?" I asked.
"Nah."
The ringing on Morgan's phone stopped, only to be replaced by the sound of my phone ringing.
"Fuck, it's Alice." I said, before answering immediately.
"Hello?"
"Emma! I am not happy with you." Her words were laced with only a small amount of humor. I could tell she was genuinely upset.
"Listen, I'm so sorry. You should come to-" I started to invite her over, but she cut me off.
"Here's how your gonna make it up to me. I'm about to head over to a Westlake party with Salma. You have to come."
Westlake was an all boys prep school about 30 minutes away. Alice's cousin, Salma, went to school nearby and occasionally invited us to these house parties with these preppy, asshole boys. They never ended good.
"I think we're all just chilling here tonight, Alice." I tried to explain, although I could tell she wasn't going to take no for an answer.
"Emma, please. I just want to get drunk with my girlfriends." she whined, "I will never ask you for anything again."
