It was around noon. Everyone was doing whatever they pleased in the mansion. Manny sharpening his weapons, Timothy working on a crossword puzzle, Benny reading a novel, Stella and Ariel playing chess, and Sam was making herself a cup of tea.
Everyone but Jess, was out in their rooms doing their own business.
"Checkmate." Stella called out.
"What? How??" Ariel asked, confused.
"I blocked your king with my queen, so you couldn't move your pieces."
"WE JUST STARTED PLAYING!! HOW???" Ariel placed her hands to her temple and rubbed lightly.
"Don't ever play Chess with her, she's really good." Fiona sat down next to the girls and watched.
"Can we just play checkers?"
"No, checkers aren't for intellectuals." Stella scoffed.
"Did you just call me dumb?" Ariel slammed her hands against the table.
"Let's play again shall we?" Stella grinned and arranged her pieces.
Stella had the black pieces while Ariel had white, making her go first.
Ariel moved her rook, making Stella move hers.
They played for almost 2 minutes and Ariel moved her rook over a piece belonging to Stella.
"What the heck are you doing? This isn't checkers Ariel. The rooks can't go over any piece. But you know what can?" Stella moved her knight over to her rook and took her piece.
"A knight can." She smiled boastfully.
"Man fuck this game. I'll just play tic-tac-toe." Ariel got up and walked away.
"What's up with Chili Pepper?" Jess got out of her room, only in her sports bra and black pants from the night before.
"She's struggling in chess." Stella said.
"Chess is for nerds." Jess scoffed and walked into the kitchen, leaving Fiona and Stella alone in the table.
"SHE'S NOT WRONG!" Ariel called out from the other room.
"Hey you're up. I thought you just died in your room or something." Sam laughed as she saw Jess walk into the kitchen.
"You got gravy?" Jess asked when she opened the fridge.
"We ran out because you drank it all." Sam rolled her eyes.
"Oh yeah that's right."
Sam poured her hot tea in a tea cup and turned to Jess.
"Um, Jess?" She called to her.
"Yes ma'am?" She stood up and closed the fridge after grabbing a bottle of coke. She turned to face Sam, only to see her staring at her.
"Can I help you?" Jess asked. Sam put her cup down and went up to Jess, and tilted her head.
"What the fuck is this?" She pointed at something that was on Jess' neck.
"My neck, Samantha." She answered sarcastically.
"No," she pulled Jess out and walked in front of a mirror.
"What. Is. That?" She pointed again at the purple bruised spot on Jess' neck.
Ahh shit.
Jess thought to herself.
