Just take those old records off the shelf
I'll sit and listen to 'em by m'self
Today's music ain't got the same soul
I like that old time rock and roll

Manny played some music on our way to the campsite. It was a hot afternoon. All the windows were rolled down, Stella fanning herself, Ariel drinking her second bottle of water, and Jess is drenched in sweat.

"Are we there yet?" Stella whined.

"15 minutes left." Manny answered, everyone groaned.

"God it's so fucking hot man, it isn't even summer." Jess complained.

"Who told you to wear a hoodie?" Ben asked, turned to face Jess.

"Because I felt like it." Jess aggressively wiped the sweat away.

"That's it." She took off her hoodie, leaving her only in her sports bra.

"Ahh that's a little better. Hey Chili Pepper, mind if I borrow that?" She took the water bottle from her hands and pours it all over her.

"Jess are you serious? Wetting my car?" Asked Manny.

"It's not my fault your air conditioning sucks!" Jess yelled.

"What is that smell?" Stella asked as she gagged and covered her nose and mouth.

Jess sniffed her armpits
"It's my sweat, want some?"

"Get away from me!" Stella pushed herself against the door.

"Come here!" Jess grabbed her hand and Stella screamed for her to stop. Manny began yelling at them to stop. Ariel ducked low so that she wouldn't be between the both of them touching each other.

"Guys we're here!" Ben called out.

Jess was quick to step out of the car, sprinted straight towards the lake and jumped in.

"Oh it's so cold!" Her head emerged to the surface.

"Get out of there we need help." Manny walked into the water and pulled Jess out by her arm.

"Alright fine, let go of me." She yanked her arm away from his grip.

They all helped out setting up the tents, placing the sleeping bags, and created a fire pit.

The sun was just starting to set when Manny and Ben set up some logs for the fire pit, Stella and Ariel sat down by the lake.

"How's your life at home?" Stella asked.

"Oh it's, it's tough, I lost my mom from a bad car accident and my dad isn't around anymore. It's just me and my older siblings." Ariel looked down and played with the water with her feet.

"I'm very sorry, but life goes on, and all that happens in the past changes you as a person, for the better. I bet your mom is watching over you right now." She pulled her into a hug and Ariel hugged back.

A few feet away, Jess watched the pair, sitting in the trunk bed with a cigarette in hand.

She let out a sigh and laid her head against the glass. She closed her eyes and let the twilight breeze blow to her face. She took one last inhale from her cigarette before tossing it to the ground.

She looked up at the sky and watched as the bright colors of purple, pink, and orange painted through the clouds. The sun's by the horizon as it's light reflected off the lake, as it continues to set.
