"Your room is really nice Ariel." Stella compliments her as she admires the posters and decor.
"Thank you." Ariel sat on her bed, hugging her stuffed animal tight.
"Hey Jess, I think we should get going."
Stella turned to face her, who's sitting by Ariel's desk and nodded in response."Alright, but you go, I'll catch up with you in a bit." Jess stood up and stretched a little.
"You remember where we came from right?" She asked.
"Yes, the tree with the hole by the park."
Stella assured herself as she hugged Ariel goodbye and walked out the door with Jess' food, leaving the other two alone. There was an awkward silence between the both of them, staring into different directions other than themselves.
"Ariel." Jess broke the silence and looked at her in the eyes.
"What happened today, was my fault. I didn't mean to react that way. I have such a bad impulse that, I just didn't like how that man would do that towards you." Ariel looked up at her and crawled closer.
"Just like that time at the bar."
"What? Who told you that?" Jess asked, wide eyed.
"Sam tells me almost everything." She shrugged.
"Of course she told you." She scoffed and looked down at her feet, letting out a big sigh.
There was that awkward silence again.
No one talking. All you could hear is the wall clock ticking every second.
"I forgive you." Ariel said quietly, looking down playing with her hands.
"You do?"
"Jess, you're probably the only girl I know that is quick to defend themselves through any situation. I genuinely appreciate you stepping up for me. Just not like that though. The reason why I was upset was because we could've gotten into serious trouble. This isn't Luna Falls where you can get away with anything. This is Coral Falls, the human world, reality. When someone makes a bad choice, shit hits the fan. Yeah, it was for self defense, but here, no one cares if it was or not. Hell my own sister runs the streets in her little cop car, stopping criminals and finding a serial killer. In this case, she's practically finding you." Ariel went off and all Jess could do is completely agree with everything she's saying.
She isn't at home, she needs to be careful and not make a fool out of nowhere.
"I understand." Jess got up and walked towards the door before saying goodbye.
"Sleep tight Chili Pepper." Ariel smiled at her as she walked straight out of the house.
It was a chilly night with a cooler breeze hitting her face, as she pulled up her hood and placed both hands in her pockets to warm herself up.
The park was only a couple blocks away so Jess sped up her pace to arrive a bit faster.
Behind her was a bright light that set a large shadow in front of her. She stopped and turned to see a vehicle with their high beams on. Jess covered her eyes with her palm out to see who was stepping out of their car.
"It's getting late, shouldn't you be home?" Lora closed the driver side door shut and she approached her, both hands on her belt.
"Not to be a smart ass, but shouldn't you not have your high beams on so bright? You're a cop you should know better. And I was on my way home before you stopped me just now." Jess took off her hoodie, exposing her sharp features.
