Shell Shocked

For the past few months I'd been out on my own with Snow. We were going through each of the islands we'd come to know and speaking with our contacts. Something we found was troubling as we spoke to a pair of SeaShockers who said they noticed something strange. It was a large Red dragon with orange and yellow stripes. It seemed to be swimming with a large metal cage on it's back.

This story was backed up by a pair of Skuldrins a few days later stating they saw the same thing. Snow and I shared a troubled look and headed back for the Edge. This was something we needed to tell Hiccup. Whatever this thing was, didn't sound good. When I arrived back at the edge, the place was empty. Snow thought maybe they headed out to Berk.

Hiccup had been working on a plan to go after Viggo and get the Dragon eye so it was possible. Agreeing on this we headed back to Berk, and we didn't see anything. The seas were too calm, so when we finally arrived it was well within the afternoon. "Hiccup!" I yelled running up to him as soon as Snow landed seeing his father walking away. "Something's wrong."

His face gave me a strange look. "What is it? I just finished up a plan to take down Viggo, and my father agreed to it." I took in a deep breath explaining everything the dragons had told me, his expression hardened. Seeming to think back to something. "Come here, I want to show you something." I nodded following him to his father's hut.

As he lead me to his room he showed me a paper stating that the twins had gotten into some trouble but managed to get their hands on the plans for a project Viggo was working on. "Project ShellFire? But this looks like plans for some kind of ship. And what's with the strange looking dragon in this corner?"

He shrugged. "I don't know. I've been looking at these plans for days and I haven't been able to come up with anything. For now though, since your back, we should go over the plans for the new mission to get the dragon eye back. You are staying to help with it, right?"

My face crumbled and I looked away from him. "Well... look, Hiccup. I want to help you with this new plan of yours, but I don't think I can right now. There is still so much I don't know about what's going on... and that dragon. If it needs help, who am I to just walk away like that?"

Nodding he took my hands. "I know, and I understand. If this is what's calling to you, who am I to tie you down. You do what you feel is right, and I'll be waiting for you when you get back." Smiling I kissed his cheek. Chuckling at his red face as I backed away. "So, uh, when are you leaving?"

To this, I frowned. "In the morning. Figured I would stock up on some supplies. Dried fish and berries before we left. Snow needs some time to rest and recover some of her strength. We have been on the road for over a month after all." He nodded taking my neck and pulling me in for another kiss.

Laughing as he pulled away. "All right then, I'll help you pack." He looked worried so I agreed, thinking that if nothing else it would take his mind off whatever was bothering him. We talked for hours and even visited his father who gave me a pat on the back causing me to stumble slightly.

When morning came, I slipped from the hut and Snow and I both took to the skies. We took some time to discuss where we were going to head first to see if we could find anything on this strange dragon. So as we passed island after island we spoke to the sea fairing dragons to see if they saw anything. One of them had seen it pretty closely and described it to me. The dragon itself was huge and had two horns on its head.

They said that it fires silvery white balls when it attacks, leaving a trail of smoke in its wake. It is also a deep diver so before they could ask if it needed help, it was already gone. They did however see it heading to the volcanic island with the Eruptodon. We thanked it before heading out. As we got closer something hit us from behind.
