Yukio x childhood friend!reader (request)

It was nothing new for Yukio to see (Y/N) almost daily. They had grown up together, after all. But to see her again at True Cross in his high school class was a surprise to him.

He didn't know why he felt surprised. Maybe it was because of the way she was suddenly carrying her self.

Yukio realized what it was when she turned around and saw him. She had grown and seemed as if she was glowing.

He was suddenly feeling weird. His face felt hot when she smiled at him and turned back to wave at her other friends before coming over to greet him.

Over the course of the school year it didn't get better. Instead it got worse, even. Yet again, it didn't help she was also a teacher at the cram school and working alongside him with Rin's class.

Rin had realized what was going on with Yukio long before his younger twin even noticed his own behaviour. And he had made a plan that he explained to his classmates before their trip to the woods.

Even Shiemi knew before Yukio, after all she had met both exorcists years before and had decided back then to get them together one day.

Shura on the other hand had noticed during training that both were not going all out during one on one. So when she heard about the plan of Rin and the rest of the class she was all in for it, even helping them in planning their actions as she knew (Y/N) felt the same.  Even if she hadn't noticed, yet.

On one hand it was cute, how they would both look at each other and blush lightly, then look away again and so on. But Shura was absolutely annoyed by now. She had endured their obliviousness for years now.

She had enough. "Rin! Get four-eyes to confess already! I can't take their obliviousness anymore." Shura had entered the cram class during her lesson and just blurted out her complaint.

"Chill! He hasn't even realized he likes her, yet." Rin was talking to Shiemi, trying yet again to get her to realize what he felt for her.

"Then get him to realize! Our last plan didn't work because they don't know what they're feeling. Now, you talk to Yukio and I'll talk to (Y/N)."

Rin sighed. He had hoped to not have to talk about this with Yukio. No matter how smart his little brother was, he had a feeling that this would take pretty long to drill into his brain.

After cram school was over the four of them walked back to the dormitories to talk to both of them. But to both Rin and Shura it seemed as if it hadn't helped their case at all.

In the beginning Yukio would wonder why she was walking and living with them, until he realized it would be easier for them if they had a mission or if something went wrong.

Like during the last week before school started. The day Shiro died and Rin's abilities were awakened.

After that Yukio and (Y/N) were in his room for days, both crying, holding each other tightly and sleeping next to each other. Shiro was like a father to (Y/N) more than her own, of which she had gotten only her abnormal hair and eye colour.

Rin had hoped that they would come out of this as a couple but instead both said they felt for the other like for a sibling. And unconciously broke the others and their own heart without taking much notice.

The plan was formed anew. What they had used the last time didn't work, so they had to find another solution for the camp.

When they had found a solution they let Shura know.

When it came to packing the stuff for the camp, it was Shura's task to manipulate the number of tents they were going to take with them. Instead of all three teachers having one, only she and Yukio had tents. 

Yukio had one for two people and Shura one for herself only. She had prepared an excuse for not being able to exchange tents with Yukio so they wouldn't have any other choice but to share.

The next step was to make sure the students didn't have a sleeping place for either Yukio or (Y/N) by choosing the right tent sizes. Making use of her task of packing the tents and bags while the childhood friends were shopping for food she made sure everything she could do for the plan to work out was given.

The moment she was done Shura went outside the building to go back to her room to pack her own stuff. 

At the same time Rin was coming back from class (well, more like talking to his teacher) at the same moment Shura came outside to see the same thing as Rin did.

They would have no use for the plan now. 

In front of them were (Y/N) and Yukio. In a tight embrace. At first they thought the two of them were just hugging.

"I knew it!" When Rin and Shura yelled in unison they jumped apart, blushing a deep crimson.

They were trying to argue that it wasn't what it looked like and being as idiotic as he was Rin almost believed them.

After all, whenever Rin had seen the two they were holding hands. And as far as he knew, whenever one of the two had had a crush the other would be sulking because they didn't spend as much time together anymore, so they were close ever since he remembered.

 But still, now that he thought about it, there had been many times (Y/N) and Yukio had shyed away from confessing to the other. Instead, they only told the other about a crush and at some point didn't think about their feelings anymore.

Until it came to the point they forgot about them. The original reason for Yukio being surprised in the beginning of the year was another step back in their relationship.

After (Y/N) had told him about her wanting to try finding a boyfriend they didn't meet up until Shiro had died. And during that time they were together all the time but didn't care about how the other was looking.

As the pair was sitting next to each other on the ground, they were watching Shura and Rin walking forth and back in front of them, well, mainly Shura. 

"Why didn't you guys tell us anything before? I thought we were friends..." Shura was shamelessy overdoing it while pouting.

Rin was watching her while grinning. He had just remembered another memory from their childhood.

"Ne, Yukio-chan..." Young Rin had stopped in the doorway, not finishing what he was saying because inside their room there was his younger brother with his best friend. Both were blushing and holding hands, though that wasn't anything new.

""Ooh... What were you doing with (Y/N)-chan?" Rin liked teasing his younger brother, but when their faces became an even deeper red he became seriously interested.

(Y/N) being the innocent child she was and not having any older siblings that could be teasing her answered cheerily. "We just had our first kiss, because some girls were teasing me for not having had my first kiss yet."

Rin, being curious, asked if he could have his first kiss with her, too, but Yukio got defensive, stating how (Y/N) was his and how they were going to marry in the future.

If only he had known back then how right he was. And while Shura was still complaining, Rin was grinning cheekily at the couple in front of them.

They were going to have to endure a lot more of his teasing in the future. Not only because he had known before them, but also because he had a whole lot of embarrassing memories of them...
