“Are you sure it doesn’t hurt?” she whispered, eyes glancing over his slinged arm with concern.

He laughed lightly. “My arm is fine. I already told you.”

She smiled. “I know, Yukio. I just worry about you.”

A lump formed in the young exorcist’s throat, and he froze briefly. He didn’t desire such worry. Not from anyone, he didn’t. He was terrified and self-centered; a horrible combination, not just for himself but for those around him as well.

Why didn’t (Name) see that? Though, he realized, she most likely did, and just chose to ignore it.

He pursed his lips carefully at the tenderness in which her fingers graced the back of his neck with their touch, a shiver involuntarily shuttering down his spine.

Sighing, he spoke again, “I’m sorry I make you worry so much, (Name). But, really, I’m okay.”

He wasn’t okay, but he would never tell her that, even if he could.

He could feel his heart quickening as her fingers trailed down the back of his neck before resting on his shoulders, nails curling delicately into the fabric of his shirt.

She was the sun, the moon and the stars to him. She was his everything.

Yukio struggled to swallow the lump in his throat. Did (Name) feel the same way about him? What would she think of him when she learned about his powers? After all, he knew he wouldn’t be able to keep that a secret forever.

Would she despise him? Fear him? Ridicule him?

His own hands were grasping at her shoulders as he leaned in to rest his lips on the base of her neck.

It wasn’t fair that he had found it in his heart to love a girl so much, and yet somehow, again his best wishes he had.

He exhaled through his nose as her chin pressed gently into the top of his head.

He sat up to look at her. He realized, that not only did she not want to say anything, but she didn’t have to say anything.

The smile in her eyes that matched with the soft curve of her lips said everything.

She loved him, just as he felt for her with every quivering fiber of his being; she loved him.

She removed his glasses, setting them aside before tenderly cupping his face with both hands.

He leaned forward butting foreheads with her and his arms moved around her back pulling her even closer to him.

He closed his eyes, lashes fluttering for a moment before kissing her.

The kiss lingered as her hands settled around his neck. He kissed her again and again, desperate to be close to her.

Oh my dear sun.
Oh my dear moon.
Oh my dear stars.

How should I show such love for you,
except it be through the forbidden act of a kiss?

To reach you is almost impossible,
and to touch you is dangerous.

But without you, I would all but destroy myself.
