A/N I know what you're all thinking, no, my wrist is not better. I just... I felt bad for not updating in two weeks, so over the past week I spent a little time typing up the next chapter. And this one is rather long, so yeah, it took a while. But it was all worth it for you guys! I also figured it could be a belated Chritmas present. Anyway, here's Chapter 22! Oh, and make sure to read the author's note at the end! Important announcment!

Chapter 22: Another Executive Decision

After the “actual” doctor had checked him out for “extra measures”, Peter left to get cleaned up. I still sat on the table though, thinking of how to mend Peter and mine’s relationship. I sit on the table and look up to the 4 men staring at me. After a few seconds of exchanging glances, no one really knowing what to say, Barton asks, “You really care about him, don’t you?” I look at him baffled with a furrowed brow. Why wouldn’t I, of course I care about Peter.

“Yes.” I simply say, looking him in the eye.

Looking back at me, he sighs and says, “Come on, we have to figure out what to do with you.” I hop off the table and head for the door, I was right they’re see through sliding glass doors, but Stark steps in my path. He holds up handcuffs and I give him a “really” look. I think I’ve had my fill of my hands being literally, and metaphorically, tied, as well as my body being injected with serums.

“Look, I’m not going to escape. I don’t know how I feel about you people, but I will cooperate.” They look unconvinced. “I-I… promise I won’t… I won’t escape.” I finally spit out, looking away. I don’t like making promises. I can’t always fulfill them and I hate that, so I rarely make them.

“How do we know we can trust you?” Stark asks.

I look him in the eye and say, “If I don’t keep my word, you can kill me. I don’t have much going for me, and there isn’t a lot you can take away from me that already hasn’t been taken.” I’m not afraid of dying, but I’m definitely not ready to die. Stark shares glances with everyone as they seem to finalize a decision telepathically. When Stark looks back to me he says, “Okay,” while tossing the handcuffs onto a table.

“I’m going to stay here and go over her records.” Banner says, turning towards a screen, while the rest of us walk out. Stark leads us, Rogers and Barton on either side of me as we walk back to the elevator. I look around for some kind of speaker that the British voice could have come out of.

“What are you doing?” Stark asks.

“Where did that voice come from?” I ask still looking at the ceiling of the elevator as it ascends.

“What voice? You mean Jarvis?” Big Bird asks.

“If that’s what you call the British voice I heard, then sure.” I answer, not stopping my search.

“He’s wired through the entire tour.” Stark answers my question. I make an “O” shape with my mouth and look straight out as the doors as they open. We walk out into the room that I’m presuming to be the one they left me in. I look around in awe. I’ve never seen such a room like this before. It seems so fancy, I might actually break something by looking at it too long and infecting it with my rural-ness. Sure I’ve been in regal buildings, but never something like this, never so modern and what was that word Heidi used? Chic? Yeah, chic sounds right. Plus whenever I was in those types of buildings, I was always on call. Always acting. The 3 seem to take notice of my wondering and awing gaze. Still not looking at them I say, “Sorry, I’ve never really been in a room so… extravagant.” Walking from the elevator, you’re on a marble floor platform that has several stair entries into a pit seating area. There are two grey couches with a glass coffee table in front of them. A huge flat screen TV takes place on the wall there too. Behind one of the couches is a nicely stocked bar, Iron Buns touch I see. Behind the other couch though is a counter bar that separates the sitting area from the kitchen. Looking into the kitchen I see stainless steel appliances with a large wooden table in the back. All the way across the room there’s another hallway and a separate door and elevator.
