*Several days later*

*Peter's POV*

"Yeah May, I'm leaving now."

"Alright Peter, and you're positive Jade can't come?"

"Yeah, things are a little complicated right now..."

"Is everything okay dear?"

"I'll explain when I get there." I sigh, hanging up and slipping my phone back into my pocket. I grab my jacket and beanie, putting both on before heading out the door.

I had left the tower, not much longer after Jade apparently did. I just, I couldn't face her again, not after making such a fool of myself. Course I didn't know I wouldn't have to at the tower until I was walking out the door, but I still wasn't ready to talk to everyone else about what happened. Now I'm going to May's for our weekly dinner. And she was so excited to see Jade again. I walk out onto the street and make my way to my old house. The apartment I got isn't too far, plus I hate going to see May as Spidey. Just reminds me that I'm lying to her.

God, why couldn't I have just kept my mouth shut? And off of Jade's. I should have played it out better, given her more time. But I still don't understand why she kept saying that I don't love her. I do, with all that I am and I just want her to be mine. But she hates me now. She'll never love me like I love her and it's ridiculous that I've spent the last 24 hours trying to forget it, but the more I try, the harder it gets. No matter what, she won't leave my mind. Those blue eyes that can brighten anyone's day, how messy her hair gets and how she doesn't care about it, the way her nose scrunches when she laughs too hard. Even when she was yelling at me, I wanted nothing more than to hold her in my arms. And why did she kiss back? If she doesn't want me, then why did she kiss me?

Before I know it, I've actually walked passed May's house. I quickly turn around, jumping up the steps and opening the front door. "Aunt May?" I say entering and taking off my jacket.

"Peter, you're just in time." May says from the kitchen. I walk in to see her placing to full plates on the table.

"Sorry, I was running late." I apologize kissing her cheek. I usually am here early to help set the table and finish the cooking.

"Don't be silly Peter, it's perfectly fine." May says sitting down and unfolding her napkin on her lap. I follow suit and grab May's hands while she prays. "So Peter," May says picking up her fork, "what's going on with you and Jade?" May's never been one to beat around the bush.

I swallowed the bite of food I had taken, thinking of how to tell her. "What did you think of Jade and I's relationship?" Or lack thereof.

"Well in all honesty, since you first brought her by, I've just been waiting for you to tell me you're dating." Ouch. "But I'm guessing that's not the case." Ow, okay this hurts more than fighting the Rhino.

"Yeah, but what did you think? Really?"

"Peter, I thought that she was wonderful. When she first came into your life, I know, you know, I was weary. But I think after you both took the past year to recollect yourselves, you somehow grew closer. Her being off in Prague, or wherever, and you isolating yourself." Huh, I wonder if Jade's actually been to Prague. Probably. "I think you two would be great together."

I lift up my head to look her in the eyes. "I glad someone thinks so."

"Why dear?"

"Because Jade doesn't." I say lowly, looking back to my plate.

"Talk to me Peter, what happened?"

Where to begin? "I kind of always liked her, I think. Of course not when I was with Gwen, but after that, I wanted nothing more than to let Jade in. I just didn't know how." I pause to shovel in more food as May nodded. "And then when she came back, all these feelings did too." I say with my mouth full. "But she was so adamant about not being in a relationship, so I didn't act on them. But a few weeks ago, Jade's... ex-boyfriend was back in town." I had to think about how to phrase that. "And well, she went running back to him." I say bitterly, taking another bite.
