There are always certain types of people when it comes to things like this.

The person who just couldn't seem to take it seriously: Flash.

The person who was scared out of their mind: Ned

The person wasn't worried at all: MJ

And the person who just wanted all of it to be over: y/n.

She sat there with her earbuds softly playing music through her ears, her arms wrapped around her knees while they were pressed up to her chest.

Her attention was drawn away from her lap when she saw a figure arise from the small group of her peers. She removed her earbuds and looked up to see Flash making his way around the fortress of desks.

"Flash what are you doing!" Y/n whisper yelled at the boy.

"Look Mrs. Andrews has been gone for a really long time, I'm gonna see what's going on. I'm bored." He said using his hands to represent his seriousness.

"Oh, so you're doing this because you're bored," MJ scoffed.

"Flash just sit down," y/n begged knowing she had a better chance of getting him to listen.

"Oh, that pretty face of yours isn't gonna get to me this time," Flash said almost reaching the door.

"Wait.." y/n stood up.

She looked over to the window and saw how much darker the sky had gotten. When she reached for her phone to check the time she felt a rumbling sensation beneath her feet.

She felt a warm, soft hand gently grab her wrist pulling her back down to the cold tile where she'd been seated before. She knew that touch.

Then out of nowhere everyone's phone began to wail.

Y/n jumped at the sudden noise shut her eyes wanting to just go home. She wanted to cry. She wanted to curl up in a ball and cry. But deep down in the small void of her heart, she knew she couldn't.

She could only hear the muffled sounds of her classmates whispering and the small ring running through her ears.

That was until the booming voice on the overhead began to speak again.

"This is an emergency broadcasting system, I am here to inform all students to stay indoors, do not move from where you are, silence all cellphones and devices. Remain calm, our first responders will be here shortly."

MJ pulled out her phone and turned it to face the other students. "Guys...look."

It was a video of a large creature, it was bigger than she could estimate but to her it looked larger than a dog. But that was only half it. It was eating someone.

The red liquid spilled from the person who'd been turned into its dinner and laid there lifeless and pale.

"People are calling them: crawlers," MJ added pulling her phone back.

Ned had tears spilling from his eyes which only made y/n want to break down even more.

"Where did they come from?"

"What do they want?"

"Where are they now?"

Those were the questions asked by a portion of y/n's classmates. They began to panic, even Michelle had a bit of worry on her face.

"That's it I'm out of here," Flash said unlocking the door.

Y/n's eyes widened in fear of what might happen if the door was opened.

Flash walked out of the room and another student who y/n didn't know the name of got up and quickly locked the door behind him.

It wasn't long before a loud scream echoed through the hallway, a scream everyone knew the owner of but didn't want to announce.

The scream made it's way to the door. The handle jerked around with an excessive amount of force yet nobody moved.

"Let me in, let me in!" Flash shouted from the other side of the door. Y/n could see the smeared red liquid across the glass of the small window.

"He's hurt," she whispered using her numb legs to push herself up.

"what are you doing?" MJ asked grabbing her leg.

"I have to help him." She whimpered.

"Y/n it's Flash," MJ said lowly under the sounds of his screams.

"Exactly MJ, it's Flash, we've known him forever we can't just leave him out there," she said walking over to the door.

She met his eyes that were drowning in his own tears. Her fingertips came in contact with the cold metal of the lock, she unlocked the door and the handle began to turn.

But she was too late.

His screaming stopped. Her eyes began to water as she watched the boy's body slam against glass slightly cracking it in the process.
The red syrup oozed from the bottom of the door into the room.

"Flash?..." she whispered with a heavy shake in her breath.

Her body began to shake when she saw his body being demolished by the horrid creature just on the other side of the door.

He was gone, really gone. And her biggest fear was: that she would be next.
