She wanted to tell Peter, she wanted to tell him so bad, but she was afraid of speaking.

Something told her the Crawlers could hear very well.

The thought of speaking made her skin crawl, goosebumps traveled down her body from head to toe.

She was beyond terrified.

But what she saw afterward was enough to make anyone break.

She thought it was ironic how the sight of "nothing" petrified her.
But It it did.

It was gone.

Her people were gone.
Her city was gone.
Her home was gone.

Everything...
was gone.

She could smell the faint smell of smoke. She was engulfed in the darkness of what used to be her big bright city.

She felt lost, she'd never experienced anything like it. And just by looking at her new partner, she could tell he felt the same.

She wanted so badly for it just be a bad dream and she'd finally get to wake up.

Peter gently grabbed her hand and pulled her along into the city of darkness.

He was going to stay with her, and she was going to stay with him.
They were together and that's how they liked it.

After searching through the empty City of what used to be Queens New York they finally found a grocery store.

Shards of glass scattered across the pavement, shopping carts toppled over one another, and the only sound came from the soft rustling of old shopping receipts and empty bags of snacks that flew around in the wind.

Peter caught her attention by simply coming to a stop. He used the objects around him to tell her what they needed to get.

His eyes spotted an empty plastic water bottle and a bag of ruined groceries.

His finger pointed to each object

"Food, water." He mouthed almost allowing himself to speak.

She nodded completely understanding what he wanted her to do.

Peter walked up to the door and began to slowly pry it open. Y/n constantly worried that he was making too much noise.

She stayed close unable to find the will to give him space. Peter slid through the small space, not wanting to risk making too much noise. He stepped aside to guide her through the space not wanting her to get cut by the loose pieces of glass.

Y/n took hold of the boy's left arm and stuck her finger up to her lips.

"No sound," she mouthed. "Please."

Peter was confused, he knew not to make any noise, anyone with common sense would say the same. Peter knew then and there that she knew something he didn't

"Okay, no sound." He mouthed back with a nod.

y/n attempted a smile appreciating Peter's will to listen to her.

Peter wanted her to feel like her input mattered. He didn't want to be rude or controlling, he just wanted to be himself, and it broke his heart that he couldn't show the girl of his dreams who he really was.

The moment they entered the store y/n headed for the canned foods, which lead to her walking away from Peter. His heart dropped seeing her small figure get further and further away from him.

He quickly grabbed her left forearm. he pulled her close causing y/n to look at his worried face.

"Don't go.stay with me...please," Peters's voice was just below a whisper, but it was just enough for her to hear.

"Okay," she nodded softly. "I'm sorry I won't-

He interrupted her, his voice still low, "it's okay...just stay close."

she completely understood why he wanted her with him, so instead, she stuck with Peter.

It didn't take them long to find food they could put into their backpacks.

y/n being the genius she was packed foods she knew were high on proteins and nutritions. She grabbed things like peanut butter, granola bars, canned fruits, and vegetables, along with bottles of water.

Peter did the same mostly picking up junk food and sodas, but he figured something was better than nothing.

They stocked up on food until they completely filled their backpacks. y/n used the small pockets on the backpack to carry things like bandages and pain killers.

The two heaved their bags over their shoulders and made their way back to the door.

Peter helped her through the door once again which was a bit more difficult since they had backpacks full of food, but they managed.

Peter noticed that the sky was getting darker, he wanted to make it to their next destination before it would get too dark.

Y/n snapped him out if his dazed thinking when she lightly brushed his hand with her own.

"Where are we going?" She whispered.

The feeling of her hand against his was a feeling he only dreamt of.

"Home." He whispered back the best he could.

'Home?' she thought.

Wherever home was she just hoped that there was still some left of it.
