Narrator's POV

One American teenager staple is attending American football games during the fall season. A place where those in the community can come together and root for their town's school football team, eat greasy fanfood, and have something to talk about on Monday. Darry goes to as many football games as he can, often chatting up with his coaches and mentally coaching and critiquing the players on the field. It is hard for Two-Bit or Dally to sit still during the games, so they are often running along the outskirts of the field, dragging Soda or Steve along to wrestle with them in the free spots of grass behind the benches where the players sit.

Vikki and Cookie have seen American films with American football, but there are no American football games in Scotland. As soon as the gang found out about how this fall was their only chance to see a football game, they jumped at the chance to take them to their high school rival's game: The Ropers against The Bulldogs from Okmulgee High School. Darry was especially excited, to have the excuse to go to another football game and drag everyone along with him.

The girls were getting ready for the big game. Vikki wore a brown skirt that swept at her knees and a blue knit sweater, which Cookie criticized her on.

"What's the matter with it?" Vikki asked, looking down at her outfit.

"Yer aff tae be tae cold." Cookie said, as she slipped on thick socks before putting on her jeans and her Jamison Tartan flannel shirt. It was her favorite shirt, their Ma had made it for her for her sixteenth birthday.

"Ah'll manage." Vikki said, taking her long brown hair out of french braids as Cookie rolled her eyes and forced her crazy scarlet curls into a messy bun atop her head.

"Gracie!" Cookie called, "Are ye almost duin?"

"Aye!" Gracie called from her room, putting on her little pants.

"Put on a jacket, it'll get cold." Cookie called out in the demanding mom voice she reserves for Gracie.

Cookie threw on a brown leather jacket she got from a local pawn shop, and prayed that the elastic in her hair wouldn't snap due to the pressure of her unruly curls during the game. It was the last one she had, and she really didn't want to have to go buy more anytime soon, and Vikki never lets her use her hair elastics because she always breaks them.

The sky got dark quickly, as it often does this time of year, and they heard the sound of two honks of a horn outside. Cookie peered outside, seeing the headlights of Darry's truck. She called Vikki over as they both scrambled to put shoes on as fast as they could before running out to the truck. Vikki locked the door behind them before running down to the truck.

Cookie nearly laughed at the boys laying down in the truck bed, hiding from the view of any Soc onlookers. They were trying to hide from the view of the girl's host parents if they looked out the window. The boys didn't want to ruin any chance of hanging out with the girls because they were seen getting into a truck with a group of greaser boys.

"It's awright, they are not hame." Cookie told the boys, letting out a little giggle. The boys' faces went bright red as they all scrambled to sit up and make space for the girls.

"Well, whatcha waiting for?" Two-Bit asked, offering Cookie his hand as Soda helped up Vikki, "Your chariot awaits." He smirked. Cookie laughed before gesturing to Gracie.
