Cookie's POV
Vikki and I had to play coy when we got home to avoid questions from Clint and Karen. We needed to wait for them to get out of the house, which did not happen until dinnertime. Clint asked Vikki and I if we wanted to join them in going to the park with them and Gracie. As much as I would have loved to, Vikki and I both had to decline with the motive of finishing our homework. That was enough of an excuse for Clint, so the three of them went off to the park.
Once they left, we sprung into action. It was perfect. They couldn't ask any more questions if they aren't around and I really didn't feel like explaining to Gracie why she couldn't come with us to do what we were about to do.
"Ye grab the spray paint and Ah'll grab the markers." Vikki told me and I nodded as we both went into our rooms and changed into dark clothes. Knowing the least conspicuous thing to wear was clothing that made me look like a Soc girl, I grabbed a black aline dress out of the closet and put it on, grabbing a pair of black flats. I knew full well that the residue of spray paint was less likely to appear on black clothing. Vikki was clad in a black sweater tucked into a pair of jeans so dirty they were practically black, probably a pair she had to borrow from Soda at one point.
After getting fully dressed, I grabbed Two-Bit's switchblade, putting it in a large purse and ran down the stairs into Clint's woodworking room. Clint enjoyed making tables and chairs as a hobby and often used different colors of spray paint to color them so I knew that I would find what I needed in there.I grabbed a can of black spray paint and a clear coat can before walking back into the house and meeting Vikki in the entryway where she held her handful of permanent markers triumphantly. It took a while to gather all the tools we needed for our plan, which was fine because we had to wait for it to get darker anyway.
"Ready?" She asked, an evil smile sliding onto her red-wine lips. I love Revenge Vikki.
"Ready." I smiled, as I held the bag open for her to drop her markers in. The malicious smile on her face hadn't dropped as she dropped them in.
The sound of footsteps pounding on the pouch made us scramble to look natural and we both decided that descending from the stairs was the best decision. So we ran for the stairs and once a couple stairs up we turned to descend again, this time slowly. Our feet touched the marble tile of the entry way as the front door opened and Clint and Karen came in.
"Oh, girls!" Karen said happily.
"We were just getting changed upstairs." I smiled.
"Clint asked, "ya headed off somewhere again?"
"Yeah." Vikki said this time, "Mind if we borrow the car?"
"Not at all." Clint smiled as Gracie ran in and hugged my legs.
"Mama, we went tae the park! Karen made scan!" She cheered.
"Ahm glad ye got tae eat, barra." I replied, coming down to Gracie's level and kissing her forehead. She giggled before running up the stairs to her room, mumbling something about coloring.
"I'll get the keys," Clint said, stepping past us to reach the front door which had a bowl of keys next to it. Cookie and I could hear him pawing around in there as Karen braided us with questions.
"Where are you girls going?"
"Do some homework at a mate's house." Cookie said.
"Do I know this friend?" She asked.
"No, she is in our homeroom." Vikki said.
"Your homeroom has homework?" Karen asked, "that's interesting."
