Alaskan_Outsider: Hi! So we thought maybe some of ya'll would like to learn about how this Fan Fiction came to be! So here ya go! I'm gonna be a nerd and set the scene. The date was November 21st, 2019. My dumbass had once again stayed up way too late reading fan fiction and stumbled across @Fan4Forever's Before My Time Series. Me being me I had decided "Fuck Sleep" and proceeded to read all three of the books back to back no pause in between. After which I was like "Fuck that shit was good" so I decided to message the author and ask her nicely to collaboration with me. And How did that go?

Fan4Forever: I was so excited when I received your message! I love talking to new people, no matter the topic. I had never collabed with anyone before on writing, so I was really pumped to try something new and different.

Alaskan_Outsider: I was just glad my weirdness didn't scare her off. (Social Anxiety Club member since 2010 XD)

Fan4Forever: haha never XD

Alaskan_Outsider: And so Scottish Gold was born, although at the time we just referred to it as the Collaboration.

Fan4Forever: if my memory serves me correct, it took a few days to figure out what we were going to write about.

Alaskan_Outsider: I trust your memory friend because we all know mine is shite. I know we decided on the twins aspect almost immediately, not wanting our fic to be the typical "Best Friend" path that most collabs tend to go in. And the Scottish part was my idea because I had just finished binging Outlander and was obsessed (Still am).

Fan4Forever: I really loved the twin idea right away! It actually took me a bit to warm up to the Scottish idea, because I know NOTHING about it. I did a lot of research, and I found a website that would translate words and phrases into the way that Scottish people would say it XD which reminds me, we would write the way that Cookie and Vikki would speak by the way they would sound in real life. Do you remember how we picked their names?

Alaskan_Outsider: I knew I wanted an odd name because Ponyboy and Soda had odd names and honestly - I don't think I told you this - but I was trying to come up with her name on the plane to Philadelphia and the flight attendant gave me a cookie while I was writing her personality and I just went... "Huh... Cookie".

Fan4Forever: that's so cool! I had no idea.

Alaskan_Outsider: I have no idea how you came up with Vikki tho... Maybe it was a rhyming thing. *shrugs*

Fan4Forever: I was looking for a "posh" type of name, because I looked at popular names in Scotland in the year they were born. I liked "Victoria" but that did not seem to fit her, and "Tori" was too American. But that was how I picked the nickname of "Vikki" for her!

Alaskan_Outsider: Then we decided that we didn't want them to be identical in personality because we are two different people so we decided Cookie was "my character" and Vikki was "your character" Although we both wrote a lot in each of their point of views.

Fan4Forever: it was easier to focus on one character than to figure out two characters with two authors figuring them both out at the same time. With us each creating our own "focus" character, it was so much easier to introduce them to each other.

Alaskan_Outsider: Especially since we were just introducing ourselves to each other. We have never met before after all and still have yet to meet in person.

Fan4Forever: did you base Cookie off of yourself? How much of Cookie is you?

Alaskan_Outsider: Well.... That's a good question. I guess, Cookie is how I would like to view myself. Don't get me wrong, she's still very close to me as a person. I curse... a lot... like every other word and I love drinking with all my friends. But she's also like me in the way that she's a bit self conscious of what people think about her. She tends to push people away for fear that they won't like her if she lets them close. I do dress a lot like I describe her dressing most the time, my leather jacket being my favorite article of clothing. But that's where our similarities end really. She is aggressive in confrontation and I run and hide. She smokes cigarettes, I don't. She has a daughter and I don't. The pregnancy at a young age thing came to me because I was fighting with my sister at the time (still kinda am) and my sister went through that so it felt like something to vent in a way. Sorry, that got deep XD
