Cookie's POV
After walking back out of the kitchen with a full glass of punch, I was stopped by some random member of Clint's family, who started asking me lots of questions about how I liked America and how living here was. I answered politely and truthfully, saying that I loved it but I was missing my family back home in Scotland. Especially my brothers at this time of year. After drinking all my punch during the talk with what's-her-face, I realized there was no alcohol in it, much to my disappointment and I made myself a glass of Scots eggnog instead and tried to distract myself from the boring conversation,
I glanced around, and saw Vik talking to two boys that looked vaguely familiar, maybe we had seen them at school or something. One of the boys waved to me, and I waved back while tilting my head, slightly confused, but being polite. I excused myself from the woman, looking for any out possible, and met the boys in the middle of the room. They both looked happy to see me and I raised an eyebrow at them.
"How are ye guys, y'all look familiar? Merry yule!" I said happily. It is the most wonderful time of the year, after all.
"Cookie, it's us, Pony and Johnny. Merry Christmas." The boys said back before looking at each other and laughing.
"Nah! Pony? That's wat ye look like under all that grease? Who could have known!" I said quietly in surprise before punching both boys in the arm. They laughed at me and Pony brushed his hair out of his eyes.
"Are you still coming tomorrow for Secret Santa?" Pony asked.
"We wouldn't miss it for th' world." I promised with a kind smile before glancing around the room, searching. "Where's a'body else?"
"They're on their way." Pony answered, "Dally and Two-Bit will be here soon." He smirked. I shook my head at him and punched his shoulder again for teasing me. They were who I was looking for, but I'd never admit it aloud.
"Well, A'm glad ye guys made it. Help yerself tae treats in th' parlor, there's drinks in th' boozer behind ye 'n' there's dinner in th' kitchen. We will hae dinner in a while so make yerself at home, 'n' dinnae— I mean, donnae forget tae be on yer best behavior."
"Thanks. And we know, Darry gave everyone a big speech about being on our best behavior." Pony reassured while rolling his eyes. I have come to the conclusion that Ponyboy is starting to get annoyed with how Darry has been hovering over him like a parent. I can tell that Darry is only trying to take care of the boys. He's trying to be the father Pony and Soda need now that their parents are gone. I admire him for it.
Pony and Johnny walked off, and I walked around towards the parlor to grab a treat for myself. I found a boy towering over the cart, putting cookies upon cookies on the pristine china plate in his meaty hands. I instantly knew that was Two-Bit and laughed to myself at his behavior. You can always count on Two-Bit to act his usual self.
"Ye don't wanna spoil yer dinner, do ye?" I joked, walking next to him and grabbing a shortbread cookie. I took a big bite of it as the boy's head shot up to look at me. He instantly looked relieved.
"Cook," Two said with a mouthful of cookies, "I didn't see ya."
"Ah was just talking tae Pony 'n' Johnny. When did ye get here?"
"Just a few minutes ago." He said, "this party is bitchin'."
"Aye, Clint 'n' Karen really ken how tae throw a party." I said, "did ye see the open boozer?" I pointed a thumb behind me at the bar where I saw Karen and Clint talking to Soda and Vikki. They made such a cute couple, my sister needed to get over her apprehensiveness and soon or I swear to god I will chuck something at her.
