A Bit Earlier...

During Yeji's walk home, she thought about stopping at Chaeryeong's place. School's let out already and she's in desperate need of someone to talk to right now. Though usually her first instinct is to fall on Lia for consolation, that isn't an option right now.

As she nears the Lee residence, she wonders if showing up unannounced is a good idea. It takes some convincing to go against her doubtful thoughts, but she does anyway since she has no way of phoning anyone else. She needs a friend, and she trusts that Chaeryeong will hear her out despite the reaction she obtained earlier. Conveniently, the individual she wished to see is the one to answer the door.

Once their eyes met, her friend shot her with a death glare, one so scary it would make you quiver. "What do you want?"

'Oh.' This isn't exactly what Yeji anticipated. She hoped that her friend would have calmed down by now. She anxiously clasps her hands together, thumbs swirling around one another. "Can we talk?"

"What is there to talk about?"

"Don't be like that. Why is no one willing to hear me out? How could you not trust me?" Yeji feels as if she's on the verge of tears again, regardless of how many she shed back at the park. "You all know how I feel about Ryujin."

"I thought I did."

"Why don't you believe me?"

Chaeryeong huffs, truly doubtful. She's aware Yeji's new to this whole dating thing, and that's the underlying reason for her distrust. "We all saw how jealous you got yesterday at lunch."

"She's my girlfriend. Of course, I got jealous. What does that have to do with anything?"

"Obviously, you invited him over to get back at Ryujin."

"Is that seriously how you see it?" Yeji's jaw practically drops in disbelief. She can't recall acting out of turn yesterday. Sure, her expression shifted, but she's willing to bet that's reasonable and natural. "Do you even hear yourself? Is that what— "

"Go home."

Yeji feels a rush of air as the door is shut in her face. Her chest heaves a bit, more anxious than before. There's so much emotion she wants to let out, to anyone at this point after being rejected, and the last thing she wants to do is return home, but she has nowhere else to go.

During the walk down the road a few houses over, a part of her feels numb. Her girlfriend doesn't want to talk, she can't speak with her best friend and get something as small as a comforting hug, not to mention her friends and her mother are angry with her. It's only a matter of time before the principal realizes she skipped part of school today. Thus, her mission is to lock herself in her bedroom and sleep for as long as her body allows her to.

However, despite this desire, immediately upon entering the door, her mom starts yelling at her for the very thing she anticipated.

"Where have you been???"

Yeji doesn't stop to think before the words spew out of her mouth. "Is that a rhetorical question, or do you actually care to know?"

"You shouldn't be skipping your classes!"

Careless now, Yeji rolls her eyes. She has no care for repercussions at this point. Nothing's going her way anyway.

"It's all about school for you, isn't it?" She starts walking up the stairs, trying to avoid an unnecessary argument. "Never mind. I'll be in my room."

"Not so fast. I was notified about something earlier this morning." Mama Hwang crosses her arms over her chest. She's furious, evident by the glare directed at her daughter. "I know you have been in contact with her."
