Wanted to edit the rest of the chapters heavily but to change what I wrote 3 years ago would mean I'd have to alter the others too and that's a lot of work. If I remember my reasoning back then, it was cause the girls had been through enough lol. Enjoy (hopefully) because I struggled. I'm posting the rest now so the story is complete again
Yeji kept walking, resisting to turn back. If Ryujin had stepped in front of her once more, she's not confident she would have rejected her again. Not to her face. Admittedly, that's why her dismissive words could only be said without looking at Ryujin.
She settled on her doorstep for a while, clothes slowly becoming less damp. She had no idea how long she sat there before taking shelter inside. All she could focus on was an aching, empty feeling in her heart.
What happened didn't make any sense. Had she thought a kiss was not what she saw? No. At least not yet. Why would she? Could her eyes really have deceived her?
The moment she entered, she intended to run to her room. However, knowing the principal was around, plans changed. She needed to talk with someone, preferably an adult. Not just any adult. She needed her mother. Her feet moved on their own, roaming to Mama Hwang's office room.
She lingered against the door frame, second guessing her decision. Leaving it up to chance, Yeji let out the faintest whisper. "Mom?"
Mama Hwang didn't suppose her daughter would return. When she faced the girl, the last thing she expected was to see a tear-stained face. She rushed to her daughter because, once they met eyes, the young Hwang began crying again. "What's wrong??? What happened???"
Yeji fell into her mother's embrace. The principal guided them to the couch to sit more comfortably. Eventually, after struggling on end to choke down her sobs, the brunette managed to get some words out. "My heart hurts," she cried out. "It really hurts, Ma."
"Can you tell me what happened?" Mama Hwang gently rubbed her back. "Why does it hurt?"
Yeji suffered through the memory. How does she describe the situation? How does she refer to Ryujin now? She said she wasn't sure if there was an "us" anymore and she meant that, no matter how much she didn't want to.
She never foresaw those words ever leaving her mouth when they got together, not up until that moment. Hell, as usual, they were having a nice conversation until the purple-haired girl was spoken of. How else should she react when her girlfriend went behind her back? Pretend everything is okay?
"S- she lied. Her and th- that girl... she said there was nothing. That it was nothing." The cat-eyed girl mumbled between forcefully suppressed sniffles, uselessly wiping her face while excessive drops left her lids. "We argued and I went for a walk. But, when I got back, there she was... with her."
"Did you ask Ryujin why she was there?"
"She didn't answer it completely."
"Did you let her?"
Yeji thought back. Turns out she did cut the girl off a few times. "N- Not fully."
"Why not? What did you see when you got back?"
"She was hugging the girl we were talking about before I left." She paused and swallowed hard. "And then they- they kissed... I stormed off after that and called Lia. I felt so stupid."
"Yeji... that doesn't sound like Ryujin."
"What do you mean?"
Mama Hwang crossed one of her legs over the other and folded her hands. "Anyone can see it in the way she speaks about you, or the way she looks at you when you don't notice it. It's not rocket science... As your mother, I can see how she feels for you. What you've described doesn't exactly make sense to me."
