Yeji applied light makeup to her girlfriend's face as the latter spoke with Mrs. Shin. Her mother called stating she had to pick up something before returning to Grandma Shin, who asked for a few things from her house.
Of course, Mrs. Shin didn't dare deny her mother's request. She promised to get it even if her emotions couldn't handle it. However, when she told her daughter, Ryujin knew through her tone of voice that this isn't something she was emotionally ready for. Thus, Ryujin offered to retrieve the items for her grandmother. She told herself whatever she was feeling, Mrs. Shin must be feeling ten times worse.
After finishing the last touches, Yeji began cleaning up. Ryujin wanted to hide her puffy eyes from her parents, so Yeji offered to conceal them for her. Before she did, though, she battered her own face lightly to cover the semi-noticeable bags under her eyes from lack of sleep.
"Thank you." Ryujin leaned into Yeji's side, head on her shoulder. "She'll be here any minute now with the keys."
"Are you sure this is a good idea?"
"I can only begin to imagine how my mom would feel walking into a home that's full of her childhood memories. They must be painful to remember right now."
"Doesn't it hurt for you, too?"
Ryujin stayed silent, staring off at the white wall in a daze. The answer was obvious. Yeji took note of that. She admired her girlfriend's attempts to look out for her parent's feelings. But disregarding her own? It hurts.
A knock on the door startled them, despite the anticipation of it. Ryujin left Yeji's side to answer. Aside from the key, Mrs. Shin also handed her a short list of items before getting told to eat breakfast soon.
"Anything you're craving to eat? My parents say there's plenty of places around here."
"I'll eat anything you choose."
Ryujin pursed her lips. "Don't be difficult, Yeddeong. Choose something. Anything."
"I'm not sure. I just, I don't have much of an appetite."
"Neither do I, but we should eat."
"Do we have to?"
"Yes." Ryujin gently sat her girlfriend on the bed and reached for the shoes beside her.
Yeji watched as the girl crouched down in front of her, grabbing her shoes and slipping them on. She gazed at her in awe until the moment she finished, marking her perfectly sculpted face. "I'm not a child, you know."
"Correct." With a slight smirk, she ruffled the brunette's hair. "You're a baby."
"Am not."
"You're not my baby?"
"Shut up." They shared a laugh, then headed out towards the parking lot.
Stopping for food didn't take long. To save time, they ordered through a drive-thru, and since Ryujin was driving, Yeji would feed her. Although, feeding her turned out a bit more complicated than she initially thought.
"That almost went up my nose!" The driver wiggled her nose, scrunching and sniffing, trying to rid of the uncomfortable feeling.
"Drive better!" Yeji had her croissant in hand while she was trying to feed her girlfriend a strip of bacon. "I could've dropped my croissant! Besides, how could this have fit in your nose?"
"I don't know, and I wouldn't like to find out."
Whenever the car would jerk because of a bump in the road, coincidentally, at the moments Yeji would reach over to give her food, it would hit the blue-haired girl in the face. The action was done numerous times, to the point that Ryujin supposed the brunette started doing it on purpose.
