Y/N'S POV
When I woke up, I could feel a cloth over my eyes. There was a gag in my mouth, and my legs and hands were tied. My hands were tied behind my back.
Great, I thought, mentally facepalming myself.
I started to shake my head around in order to loosen the blindfold or fling it off. I almost gagged at the smell of the room, but I ignored it and went back to taking the blindfold off. I sighed in relief when it finally flew off, and I opened my eyes slowly.
I was in a dark room with no windows in sight. I looked around and saw that there was a single metal door on the other side of the room. I tried to scoot my way towards it, but a voice made me halt.
"Ah, you're finally awake! I was scared we might've killed you or something. Well, actually, that's part of the plan anyway, so it wouldn't matter that much. Oops, I said too much. Oh well. I know the boss wants you killed, but I kinda don't really wanna kill you. You're cute."
The familiar voice rang through the room, and I couldn't stop myself from shaking.
The patch of blood on my leg started to throb, making me wince. The arrow had hit my calf, and I had sprained my ankle when I fell.
I narrowed my eyes in the pitch-black room, but I couldn't see anything. I whipped my head to my right when I heard footsteps coming towards me.
The footsteps got closer, and I heard the sound of a match being struck.
A lamp was lit and put on the ground beside the owner's feet.
I trembled when I saw the man hovering over me. I let out a yelp as I tried to get away from him, but I was stopped when he stepped on my calf. I let out a cry of pain, and my vision blurred with tears. It hurt. A lot.
"Aw, Y/N. Don't you remember me?" The man chuckled and did a motion of shooting an arrow. "I hit the target pretty well if I do say so myself."
My eyes widened, and I let out another cry which was muffled by the gag when he added weight onto my leg.
Spencer, I thought, remembering the look he gave me when he shot the arrow.
"Ah, now you remember, sugar." Spencer leaned down towards my face. "You know, if I wasn't so in love with my boss, I probably would've had a crush on you. You're so pretty," he said softly, tipping my chin up with his finger.
I tried to give him a death stare, but he only laughed in response.
"Babe, you look like a puppy when you do that." He then sighed. "So adorable. You know what would be even more adorable?"
I shook my head and started feeling the ground behind me. To my relief, I felt a pretty sharp rock, so I grabbed it and started to rub it against the ropes on my hands.
He leaned down and grabbed the gag that was in my mouth. He untied it and threw it across the room.
I started coughing and spit out the remaining dust that went into my mouth from the gag.
"When was the last time you washed that thing?" I said, spitting as much of the dust bunnies I could off of my tongue.
Spencer blinked. "Seriously? Those were your first words after you woke up? Not 'wow, Spencer, you're so hot and cool! I love you so much!'?" he said, crossing his arms.
"W-What? Do you think-"
Spencer put his finger against my lips. "Shh, babe. You're being too loud," he said. "You don't want people to hear us, do you~"
I spit in his face. "Finally! All those disgusting dust particles. Ugh!" I said, wanting to wipe my mouth with my hand. Obviously, I couldn't because they were tied.
Spencer, with his eyes closed, groaned. "Look, babe-"
"Don't call me that."
"-I honestly don't wanna hurt you. Literally, the only reason K-" Spencer started coughing. "I-I mean the boss wants you dead is because she's jealous of you. I mean, I can definitely see why, but I just think that's a little too much, you know?"
I looked at him, complexed. "Wait. So you're telling me the only reason your boss wants to kill me is because she's jealous?" I said, exasperated.
Spencer scratched his neck. "Well, no. She's jealous of your relationship with the prince You see, she's had a crush on him ever since we were kids. She would buy magazines with him in it and cut out pictures of him and hang them on her walls. Creepy, I know," he explained.
For some reason, I felt comfortable around Spencer. "So, she wants to kill me because I have a good relationship with Maxon?"
Spencer nodded.
I rolled my eyes. "Well, she seems like a yandere type," I mumbled softly.
"What was that?" Spencer asked me.
I shook my head and decided to stall for a little while the ropes were being cut. "It was nothing. Anyways, you seem pretty-"
"That's because I am pretty."
I glared at him. "You didn't let me finish. You seem pretty stupid to me."
Spencer's smile fell. "Stupid...?"
"Yeah, stupid," I said. "You're literally talking about your boss's massive crush on Maxon to me like we've known each other for years. I'm a prisoner, you know. Shouldn't you, like, be kicking me or torturing me instead of gossiping?" I asked, mentally smiling when I felt some of the rope slowly being cut.
My hands were starting to hurt, and I could feel them start to bleed.
Spencer laughed. "I'm only telling you her 'secret' because you're about to die. Also, I'm hurt, Y/N. I thought we had something between us. I thought we shared a bond," he said, putting his hands over his chest.
I snickered when I felt the rope finally give away and fall to the ground. "I guess you could call it a bond."
I kept my hands behind my back so he wouldn't suspect anything.
"The only 'bond' here is mine and Maxon's. Spencer, I told you to kill her, not flirt with her."
A new voice came from the shadows, and I narrowed my eyes.
"Isn't it sad? I actually liked you in the beginning, Y/N. You were shy. Timid. Unable to stand up for yourself. But then you did. And that was the worst choice you could make."
The figure stepped into the lamp's light, her heels clicking with each step she took.
"Sorry that your life had to end so soon, Y/N. I hope your next life isn't so cruel."
The figure had a gun in her hand, and it was pointed straight at my head.
I trembled as I looked up, and I held in a breath.
Kriss.
