WARNING: Cursing

"K-Kriss," I said hesitantly, watching the gun intently.

Kriss had her finger on the trigger, and she was pressing it ever so slightly.

"W-Why are you d-doing this?" I asked, not being able to stop my voice from shaking. I still held on the rock and tried to come up with a plan.

Kriss scoffed. "Didn't Spencer explain everything? Look, sweetie, I'm not letting a Six become the princess. You're a nobody and that's all you will ever be."

Her finger started pushing on the trigger, and I attempted to scoot away.

"Such a shame. I wish we could've been friends, Y/N. We're very similar if you didn't already know."

I glared at her and looked at the door, seeing that it was unguarded.

"Spencer, get out. I wanna have a little privacy with little Y/N," Kriss said, her grip on the gun tightening.

I swallowed hard as Spencer saluted and walked out of the room. "Look, Kriss," I started, "I-"

"Who gave you permission to talk, huh?"

She pushed the gun against my head, and I mentally cursed.

There goes my escape plan, I thought sadly. I started to rub the rock against the rough ground softly so it would sharpen.

"So, Y/N, what are your last words? I wanna tell Maxon as soon as I get to the palace. Maybe say that I was kidnapped, too." Kriss sneered.

I flipped the rock around and started to sharpen the other side.

"Kriss," I started, "please don't do this. Look, I'll disappear from the world, okay? I'll stay away from Maxon, and you can say that I died or something. Please, just let me live!"

I started to cry, and I mentally thanked Isa for teaching me basic acting skills.

"Aw, little Y/N is crying. Sorry, sweetie, but my answer is no."

Kriss grinned sadistically as her finger started to push down on the trigger.

   "Say bye-bye."

Aspen's POV

I held my gun tightly against my chest as I slowly sneaked behind the warehouse wall.

The warehouse looked abandoned from the outside; the windows were broken and there were no lights on inside the building.

I motioned to the other guards to keep low as I crept towards the back of the building.

They all nodded and began to squat down with their guns in their uniform pockets.

I made my way towards a window and looked inside. However, due to it being nighttime, I couldn't see anything except a man and a door.

"I really hope you're right about this, Your Highness," I whispered softly through gritted teeth.

I raised my gun up and closed one eye as I aimed. I positioned my hand on the trigger and was about to shoot when a sudden gunfire echoed around the building.

I immediately put my pistol down and looked at the other guards, who all seemed confused.

A scream caught my attention, and I whipped my head back to the inside of the building.
