how long does it take for a frog to grow up?
because there is one in the corner of my bathroom
for nearly a week, 2 o' clock from the toilet seat.

google : 12-16 weeks. no, not metamorphosis -
that was too magical for serious thought, but
a froglet into frog, small frog into big frog.

did the earth say to the male frog - when you mate
clasp the female underneath in an embrace
called amplexus. let it last for days, sometimes.

many species of frogs are known for attempting
to mate with anything that moves which isn't
small enough to eat. the froglet can climb walls,

white-tiled. I haven't seen big frogs climb walls.
I've seen them make walls / I loop around my old house -

cutting across the gardens, jumping over the gates,
glitching before some house I cannot remember,
never went there, cannot go there, am not there.

I am in a new house & a new loop, no little adventures,
anymore, like crossing a rain-battered road. the frog
looks like a wax statue, in the corner, until it doesn't.

it's a sacrifice, I think, rather than a process, the shell
of metabolic yolk sacrificing the ability to climb walls
in exchange of making sounds & talking to the rain.
