My couch had never felt so comfortable

My couch had never felt so comfortable. Maybe it was how tired I was after one of the most stressful weeks of my entire life, but I wasn't complaining as I laid happily between the new pillows I had bought.

I waited for Naeun to come home, I left her a message saying I had something important to tell her.

Ever since she and Lucas got engaged she had ignored me even more than she usually did. I mean... I couldn't blame her... I bet she was over the moon when he proposed, but a full week had gone by and she hadn't come home.

I started to feel more and more anxious, so I decided to text her again:

예쁜 나은이 💗🐻

Soon enough she had arrived. Surprisingly though, Lucas decided to go buy some groceries.

I can't remember the last time that dude actually cooked. We probably shouldn't eat what he makes...

I couldn't contain my excitement when I saw Naeun, jumping up and down, her along with me, even though she still had no idea what I was so happy about.

"Why are we jumping?!" She laughed, "wait! Don't tell me! That guy Mark asked you out?!"

I stopped jumping, "ha ha, very funny. He doesn't think of me that way..."

"You still haven't told him you've met before?"

I shook my head.

"Well why not, dumbass? The longer you wait the more awkward it's gonna be!"

We made our way to the couch. The mood shifted a bit but I was still overjoyed at my news and didn't pay much attention to what my friend was saying, even though I knew she was right.

"I know, I know... but, that's not what I wanted to talk about," I opened my bag and took out my new contract.

I showed it to her and her eyes opened in excitement, "oh my god, is this real?!"

I nodded.

She stood up, and I followed, "oh my god!! My best friend is gonna be a singer!!" We started jumping and hugging again.

If anyone knew how much I enjoyed singing it was Naeun. She often grew annoyed at how I wouldn't shut up about it. Music was my life. And I was making the best out of it.

The rest of the weekend flew by. We barely survived eating what Lucas called "food", and they stayed with me until Monday morning when he went back to his own apartment.

"Is it even healthy to spend this much time together?" I asked Naeun ironically as we watched TV.

"What? Are you jealous I don't spend enough time with my bestie?" She said in a cute voice. I threw her a disgusted face. "Seyeon," I turned my head at her change of tone, "will you be my maid of honor?"

I grinned widely, "of course!" I hugged her, "wait. What about your cousin? She always said she wanted to be maid of honor at your wedding," I said.

"Pfft! You're my best friend! We've been through everything together! She'll have to be happy with being just a bridesmaid," she smiled.

"Oh god, I still can't believe you're getting married," I took her hand, looking at the sparkling diamond on her finger. Lucas must have spent all his savings on that rock.

"I can't either," she smiled again.

"So, when's the wedding?"

"Girl hold your horses, we literally just got engaged!"

Without realizing it, May had ended and June had creeped in from around the corner. The camping trip we all waited for was finally happening.

After a good amount of convincing, Hyerin decided to tag along. I was really looking forward to the retreat.

It had only been three weeks since I had signed the new contract. I thought things would remain pretty similar, but I was immensely wrong. All my time became consumed by vocal lessons and dance practices. Luckily the other trainees were nice, or I would've felt even worse.

There was no word from Mr. Kim about what I would do, how I would debut, or when... but I stayed positive and worked hard to be as good as the others.

I still worked on C&C and S5L's songs, just not as much as before. It had become quite hard to see Mark and the others during those three weeks. They were busy with their schedules, and so was I. That's why I looked forward to the camping trip so much. We would get to spend time together again.

The drive was long, I'm not going to lie. Hyerin and I were stuck in that car for almost 3 hours, but time passed by rapidly as we joked around and caught up on gossip, especially about Mr. Kim.

"I hear him talk all sweetly on the phone the other day," Hyerin made a disgusted face.

I laughed at her expression, "what's wrong with that? I'm sure his wife's into it."

"That's the thing," she changed her tone, and spoke seriously, "it wasn't his wife!"

I gasped. The tea was good! "How do you know??"

"Every time his wife calls he calls her by her name. I've never heard him talk sweetly like that to her, I swear. Plus the number was different."

"You saw the phone number?"

"Yeah, I mean, why would his wife call him from a different phone right?"

"Maybe she just changed her number..."

"I don't think so. He's definitely cheating. Ugh, that nasty old man!"

Quietness overtook the car, but then we erupted in laugher at how stupid we were being. Just then, the GPS spoke.

"We're here!"
