"Powerade!"
I turned at the call of the silly nickname.
"Hey," I waved at Doyoung who was slowly making his way over to my table.
After our last encounter we had gotten closer. He was funny—more on the sarcastic side—and could be quite mean too, but I really liked talking to him. It was nice having one more friend here.
He was usually busy and I was too, so we didn't get to meet often, but rather texted all the time. Every once in a while, we ran into a each other while eating at the company, kind of like this moment.
"Will you ever stop calling me that?"
"Never," he laughed, taking a seat next to me and ruffling my hair.
*snap*
I was surprised by his sudden actions. I looked around us and saw people staring and whispering.
I shook his hand off and fixed my hair.
"I heard about your debut," he smiled.
"Wow, good news travel fast here. It's not even been a week," I laughed. It had only been a couple days, and people already new.
"When will it be?"
I sighed, "everyone keeps asking that... I don't know yet. All I know is that I should start working on some songs."
He nodded and picked up one of my fries to eat. "That's mine!" I yelled, but he just shrugged and ate it anyway.
"You know..." I changed the subject, "my best friend is a huge fan of yours," I batted my eyes at him with a stupid grin. It was quiet for a second until he realized what I was hinting. All I got in return was a squinted-eye stare. I cleared my throat realizing how stupid I must've looked, "I just wanted to put that out there."
"Why?" He asked.
I shrugged, "no reason..."
He scoffed and crossed his arms at his chest, "if you want my autograph you can just ask. You don't have to use your 'friend' as an excuse."
My eyes widened, slightly agitated at the comment, "i-it's not like that! Naeun really likes you... and she's getting married soon, so I thought it would be a great gift," I spoke so fast I didn't even hear myself ramble, "I mean- I also am your fan and would love an autograph, but it was for her! I mean it. It's okay if you don't want to give me one... you haven't known me for too long and-"
"Can I come?"
I was startled by his question. Finally interrupting my rambling, I looked up at him in confusion, "huh?"
"Your friend's wedding. Can I go?" He repeated nonchalantly, a small smile appearing on his face, "if she's such a big fan, wouldn't she like to meet me?"
My jaw dropped. Was he actually asking me if he could go? It would've been so great! Naeun would be over the roof!
"Close your mouth, something's gonna get in it," he joked, snapping me out of my thoughts.
"She would love that!" I grinned, "oh my god! Thank you! Thank you so much!" I leaped into his arms and hugged him tightly. The overwhelming happiness of making my best friend's dream of meeting her idol becoming a reality had me over the roof. I felt his arms wrap around me too, and that's when I realized what I had just done.
*snap*
A deep shade of red overtook my cheeks as I pulled away instantly, only looking at him for half a second before directing my view at the floor. He looked surprised but I could see a hint of a smile on his features.
"Sorry. I'm sorry. I got too excited for a second."
I heard him laugh, "your face is so red." My hands flew up to cover my cheeks the moment he said that, earning another small chuckle from him.
"Uh- I should go. I need to talk to Eden," I bowed my head quickly and darted away, still covering my cheeks in embarrassment.
𖥸
"Hello," I greeted the producer.
"Ah, Seyeon, you're here," Eden acknowledged, motioning me to take a seat next to him. "Listen to this." He handed me a pair of recording headphones and I listened carefully to the track he played. The melody was soft, easy going, peaceful. It sounded like the perfect song to cozy up next to a warm fireplace with a cup of coffee in your hands.
"It's beautiful," I said the moment the music ended.
"It's yours."
"W-what?"
"It's your title track," he smiled.
A million thoughts ran through my mind, becoming ecstatic at the news.
Such a beautiful song, for me?
"How? It's only been a week... you made this in a week?"
He nodded, "something like that. I had a feeling this was gonna happen," he smiled. I remained speechless. "You're lucky. Everyone loves winter albums."
Winter albums? Wait- does that mean...
"I'm debuting in winter?" My eyes were widespread, and for the second time that day my jaw dropped in pure awe.
He nodded.
"This winter? With this song?"
He nodded again.
"I'm debuting in winter! Oh my god! Thank you! Thank you Eden!" I couldn't hold my excitement, standing up from the chair only to jump up and down like a child. I was probably weirding him out, but I didn't care. News like these didn't come everyday!
He leaned back in his chair, chuckling a bit, "okay, okay. Now, you write the lyrics, kid."
"Yes!"
