Debut day

I sat in front of the mirror, looking at my caked face, as the makeup artist applied more foundation on my cheeks and forehead. I fidgeted with my phone between my hands.

No response yet... did he even hear it? Maybe he hasn't seen my message... maybe he just ignored it... maybe he doesn't want anything to do with me...

"So pretty!" Hyerin said.

"I know right!" Naeun replied.

They were standing behind me, looking at the work and effort being put on my face. Their loud words snapped me out of my pitiful trance.

"You don't usually say that," I narrowed my eyes at them, "are you implying I'm ugly without makeup?"

They laughed. "Learn how to take a compliment, woman!" Naeun said. "Yeah," Hyerin agreed.

I smiled at their response. I was so glad they were there. If it wasn't for them, I wouldn't have been able to come this far. They always had my back and didn't hesitate to offer me help when I needed it. Never leaving me behind. I was lucky to have such good friends in my life.

"Seyeon, you're on in 10," my manager spoke. I felt chills run through me and my stomach flipped at the nerves of performing. I took a deep breath, trying to calm myself down.

Stop stressing! Stop stressing! Oh god, I think I'm gonna be sick...

"Inhale for four seconds, hold for six, exhale for eight. That's how I calm my nerves before a performance." I turned around at the sound of the familiar voice. The room went quiet when my eyes landed on hers.

Sunny.

Her eyes quickly found the floor as she played with her fingers. What was she doing here? What did she want? Did she come here to laugh at me? At the fact that she had won? I wasn't going to let her get in my head.

I turned back around, looking at my friends who also didn't seem to know what to say. "Thanks," I muttered. I was going to be the bigger person.

I could see a small smile form on Sunny's lips. It was a sad smile, a shy smile, almost regretful.

"I'm sorry," she lowly said. I couldn't believe my ears.

She's sorry?

"I... I treated you so unfairly when you did nothing wrong... I know how wrong that was now. I shouldn't have acted that way. Especially not over a guy... I understand if you don't forgive me, but I'm sorry. I truly am."
