Ellody waited a few seconds before her phone lit up with his picture and name, which she accepted.

"Hey, is something wrong?" he asked, reminding Ellody of herself when he called her the other night

"Hey, is something wrong?" he asked, reminding Ellody of herself when he called her the other night.

"OK, you don't have to throw my words back at me like that," she giggled, imagining him smiling back at her.

"Fine, but really, what's up?" Jonah said calmly.

"I just had a big science test worth about thirty percent of my grade, which is a lot, and I wasn't exactly focused on it. I didn't even study for it last night and I think I did really badly - then after the test, I was being so clumsy and knocking everything over and some girls called me a nerd and everyone was laughing and I don't know how to feel about... um..." Ellody paused, realising she was about to tell Jonah how she felt about him and Zach, but there was no way that information was leaving her mouth.

"Well, first of all - why were you so distracted? You always study," Jonah asked, leaving a hollow feeling in Ellody's heart. She wanted him to know, but she didn't. The sun broke through a gap in the leaves above her, heat searing her head. Ellody scooted around the tree until she was free of the heat.

"I don't know. I just was," she sighed, the truth sitting on her tongue. She wouldn't let it come out of her mouth. She just couldn't let it happen. It'd ruin her entire relationship with each guy in the band, and what about Tatum? Ellody hadn't even considered Tatum and Jonah's relationship. What if she'd been dreaming of dating Zach and Jonah this whole time, when they were both taken anyway?

"There's gotta be something on your mind. Are you missing us that badly?" Jonah suggested, laughing. Ellody swallowed, not wanting to lie to him. He meant everything to her.

"Of course I miss you guys. The weekend went so fast," Ellody muttered, tears filling her eyes. She seemed to want to cry at the littlest things lately - the pressure of decisions couldn't and wouldn't leave her mind.

"I miss you too, Ellody. I wish you were here. I know I've already said that, but I seriously do wish you were with us. Even though you can be really uptight sometimes." There was silence before he continued. "Kidding. I've got to go, Jack just had a tour idea and is calling everyone to the producer's room," he explained quickly. Ellody smiled, imagining Jack waving his hands around trying to gather everyone into one room. Like herding disobedient cats.

"Alright, I'll talk to you later. I should probably go back to my locker anyway," Ellody decided, glancing behind her at the school and the hundreds of kids milling around.

"OK, have a good day. I love you!" he added before hanging up. Ellody's heart stopped as she stared at the grass, phone clutched tightly in her hand. The world seemed to stop, warmth rushing through her as though the sun was peeking through the leaves again. She hugged her knees to her chest, his words echoing in her head. OK, have a good day. I love you.
