PREVIOUSLY: "That's weird," Zach mumbled. He recognised that view, but he couldn't remember where he'd seen it before.
ELLODY'S POV:
Jonah smiled at the waiter as he placed a bowl of fries and sauce in between them.
"Thank you very much," Ellody said as he backed away. Jonah grinned at her as she dunked one in sauce before putting it in her mouth. "These are good... and hot, very hot," she said, grabbing her water and drinking the whole glass. Jonah raised his eyebrows, taking one for himself and nodding.
"Yeah, hot," he agreed, eating it anyway. Ellody stared out the big glass windows at the brightly lit town, able to see each building in the darkness. The sun had set an hour ago, but every building was covered in lights. It was so photo-worthy, but Jonah had taken a photo earlier and put it on his Instagram story before realising people would know where they were just by the view.
"It's so gorgeous up here," Ellody smiled. Jonah nodded, glancing out the window before returning his gaze to Ellody.
"Very gorgeous," he said, winking at her before signalling to a waiter. "Could she please have a refill?" Jonah asked, gesturing to Ellody's glass. The waiter nodded, taking her glass and walking away.
"You didn't have to ask for me," Ellody said. Jonah shrugged, but Ellody was glad he did. Being an introvert was harder than it looked.
Her eyes moved back to the view, wondering what Zach was doing right now. She wanted to hear his voice again.
"What are you thinking about?" Jonah asked carefully. Ellody thought back to the day at their airport, when Zach said she 'had that look in her eye'. Zach knew her better than anyone else.
"Nothing," she sighed, shaking her head. He raised an eyebrow but didn't push it.

Ellody's phone buzzed, and she turned it over to see a text from Zach. Forgetting she had a face mask on, Ellody tried to frown but couldn't.
ZACH: hey
Just 'hey'? Zach never just said 'hey'. She hesitated before texting back.
ELLODY: hi
She didn't know what else to say. They hadn't spoken in days, and she couldn't mention Jonah. And she didn't want to mention her dad being here, since she felt bad that Jonah was here instead. I have nothing to say to him. Wow. I never thought this day would come. I've always had something to say to Zach. He means everything to me.
ZACH: have you spoken to Jonah recently?
Ellody's heart started to race. No way he was asking about Jonah, no way. She couldn't lie to him. Zach would know she was lying. Zach knew everything about her, there was no way she could get anything past him.
Ellody made sure her towel was secured before sticking her head out of the bathroom door. There was no sign of Sienna, her mum or her dad. Hopefully they were all still downstairs, or in their rooms.
"Jonah?" Ellody muttered, knocking on her bedroom door. It opened to reveal Jonah, his hair messy from lying on her bed. He looked her up and down, raising his eyebrows playfully at her towel and face mask before stepping aside for her to walk in. "No, I'm not done in the bathroom. I just..." she paused, handing him her phone. He frowned, reading the screen.
"Oh," he sighed, biting his lip.
"What do I say? He'll know I'm lying, he always knows. He's Zach," Ellody whimpered. Jonah shrugged and handed her phone back.
