PREVIOUSLY: "Hey," Ellody yelled suddenly, sitting up abruptly. Her head was swimming, but she could feel the cold pouring down her body.

"You should be grateful," Sienna muttered, glaring out her window at a family on their front lawn.

"I am grateful. I've already thanked you, and Jade. But I still think you should've just left me in bed so that I didn't hit my head and nearly die-"

"You didn't nearly die!" Sienna yelled, drowning out Ellody's voice. Jade sighed, holding the steering wheel with one hand. Her other hand grabbed Sienna's arm, giving her a meaningful look before turning back to the road.

"Yeah, listen to Jade," Ellody snapped, waiting for a reaction from either girl, but they both ignored her. Ellody sighed, turning to her phone instead. Her eyes widened as she realised he had three missed calls from her mum, one from Zach, and one from Jonah. Jonah? What the hell?

"Hey mum, what's wrong? I just saw your missed calls-"

"ELLODY! Get home right now! Where are you?" her mum yelled, making the girl cringe away from the phone.

"Uh, we're on our way. Why?" Ellody asked, locking eyes with Sienna, who had turned around in her seat at the mention of their mum.

"I've tried calling Sienna a million times, but she hasn't responded, and I didn't know if you guys were OK. I have to be able to reach you at all times, especially when you're out of the house together without me," she lectured, and Ellody rolled her eyes at Sienna to show it didn't matter.

"Well, I'm sorry, but we've been distracted, to say the least. Can we talk to you when we get home?" Ellody asked, glancing out the window to see where they were. "Ten minutes, give or take," she added quickly, biting her lip. She hated it when her mum was worried about them; it made her feel awful.

"Good. We all need to talk about this," her mum decided before hanging up. She never hung up without saying goodbye.

"What was all that about?" Sienna asked gently, as though worried she might say the wrong thing.

"Mum tried calling you but you didn't answer?" Ellody suggested, raising her eyebrows. Her sister frowned, checking her phone, but there were no notifications. "Um, that's weird," she frowned. Sienna shrugged, muttering something that Ellody couldn't hear, but made Jade laugh.

The door was thrown open, and their mum stormed out of it. Ellody slowly got out of the car, eyes the size of frying pans. No, mum can't see that it's Jade! She thinks we're with Jaiden!

"Hi mum! Sorry we didn't call back, we got a bit lost-" Ellody began, trying to distract her mum, but the woman was determined.

"Jaiden?" her mum demanded as Sienna got out of the car and shut the door. Sienna's face turned the colour of a ripe tomato before she moved her body to shield her girlfriend from view. Unfortunately for Sienna, Jade got out of the car and threw her hair back, waving at their mum like they were old friends. The woman stared at Jade, her ability to speak gone.

"Hi Ms Brown, sorry that we haven't met yet. I'm Jade, Jaiden's sister. Funny names, hey? He had a game this morning, so I did him a favour by taking these two home. I probably should've let you know," Jade explained with a small frown. Ellody silently marvelled at how incredibly easy it was to believe her.

"Oh. Well, it's very nice to meet you, Jade. I thought... um, alright. Sorry, I haven't had the pleasure of meeting Jaiden yet, and I thought he was dropping the girls home... OK, uh, nice meeting you," she said with a nod, taking a step back towards the house before turning on her heel and fast-walking. Jade raised her eyebrows at Sienna, who breathed out slowly, hugging Jade goodbye. They whispered to each other before Jade pulled away, half hugging Ellody and getting back in her car. The Brown sisters waved to Jade, watching her pull out of their driveway and turn down the street.

"When are you going to tell her?" Ellody asked quietly as they began their dreaded walk to the front door.

"I'm not sure. Soon, hopefully. It's really hard. I just want to tell her everything, but I don't want her to worry over something else - you know how she gets," Sienna explained, staring at her hands as they reached the door. Neither wanted to open it and face their upset mother; neither wanted to have to lie about the concert, neither wanted to let slip about Ellody's head. But neither wanted to be in trouble, either.

"You. Did. What?" she growled, her face contorted with rage. Ellody stared at her mum, crossing her fingers behind her back and silently praying for herself and Sienna to get out of this unscathed.

"Yeah. We slept in the same bed. I'm sorry, mum," Sienna explained quickly, like she was ripping off a bandaid.

"You remember me telling you that it wasn't allowed until you have your own money and house so that, if you get pregnant, you can look after the baby without me," the woman replied briskly, turning back to the bubbly saucepan filled with sauce.

"Wow, OK, we didn't do that, we just shared a bed. People don't have to do it if they're sleeping in the same bed. It's not mandatory. Besides, I've had it before, and I don't have a child, do I?" Sienna exploded bravely, and Ellody slapped a hand to her mouth. When the pair had decided to land this blow on their mum - telling her that Sienna and 'Jaiden' had shared a bed so that she wouldn't think twice about them being at the concert/movies - they had expected her to react like this. But Ellody didn't realise her sister had actually done it before.

"Sienna Brown! Go to your room right now! Grounded! Give me your phone! Room, Sienna! Room!" she screamed, scaring the living daylights out of Ellody as she shot sauce everywhere with her spoon, which she was waving at Sienna.

"Going," she muttered, shooting a look at Ellody that said you better hold up the fort, or I'll kill you. She stomped up the stairs, fists balled and breathing heavily. Ellody watched her sister go before taking half a step back from her mum, who looked murderous.

"Anything you want to tell me, Ellody? I can't get any madder than this!" her mum yelled, and the girl automatically shook her head. Her stomach sunk to her feet. She was lying, and her mum could surely tell. Surely. She wasn't a good liar. Why did Sienna leave me here to defend the lie?

"I'm going to call Zach," she added, slowly walking towards the stairs before darting up as fast as possible. Ellody slammed the door to her room, checking herself over for sauce, and finding it on her arm and chin. Not on my clothes. Good. She glanced at the door, counting down slowly from five. As she reached one, Sienna threw the door open, shutting it slowly and collapsing on her bed.

"Holy cow. That was bad," Sienna muttered, rolling onto her back and pushing blonde hair out of her face.

"Intense. Thank you for throwing that out there, though. If you hadn't thrown a spanner in the works, she would've smelt a rat, I'm sure of it," Ellody sighed, lying down next to her sister.

"Well, I'm just glad you didn't throw us under the bus when she sent me away. You didn't, did you?" Sienna asked, sitting upright.

"I'm still alive, aren't I?" Ellody smiled, earning a light hug from her sister. Sienna never hugged. I guess I earnt that. "I'm going to call Zach, OK?" Ellody added, and Sienna smiled, darting out of the room and closing the door with a soft snap.
