PREVIOUSLY: "What's this about?" a voice asked behind Ellody. She spun around to see Jonah shirtless at the top of the staircase with a smirk on his face. Ellody's heart was practically bursting. Jonah was right there. Sienna was gone, her dad was a heavy sleeper... she had him all to herself.

"Sienna's visiting a friend," she said simply, locking the window and slowly making her way up the stairs. Jonah nodded, beginning to make his way back to the lounge. "Um, she won't be back until the morning," she added. Ellody watched as he stopped in his tracks at her bedroom door and raised his eyebrows.

"Oh, OK..." he trailed off.

"You can, um, sleep in her bed if you want. It'll be more comfy," Ellody offered, biting her lip. Her heart was racing a million miles an hour, and she wondered if he could hear it.

Jonah seemed to consider her offer, glancing at Sienna's door.

"Why not?" he smiled, pushing the door open and waiting for her to walk in first. Ellody took a deep breath before walking past him, forcing herself to stop looking at him as she sat on her bed and pulled her sheets over her. He closed the door softly and rubbed the back of his neck, glancing at her bed before jumping on the trundle, laughing quietly and pulling his phone out of his pocket. Ellody watched as he put it next to him and turned it on silent.

"Night," she whispered.

"Night. Sleep well," he whispered back.

"You too."

Just tell him. This is the best time to possibly tell him. Go on Ell, he's right there and about to be asleep.

"Jonah." She nearly threw up with nerves, her head was spinning, but she had to say what was on her mind.

"Yeah?" he whispered. Ellody's breath caught in her throat, and she sat up to calm her nerves.

"I..."

Her words wouldn't come out. Her heart was hammering, her head was swimming...

"Ell? Are you alright?" Jonah said, sitting up and staring at her in the dark.

"Yeah, I just... I wanted to tell you..." she stopped again, unable to speak.

"Talk to me," he whispered, pushing off his covers and getting up to join Ellody on the side of her bed. Now her stomach was doing flips because he was sitting on her bed, shirtless, in the dark... how many fan-fictions started with this very scene?

Probably not this very scene, because I'm panicking and he looks worried about me.

"Ellody, what's wrong?" he asked. A singular tear dripped down her cheek, falling on Jonah's hand.

"I'm sorry," she mumbled, beginning to sob. Jonah pulled her into his side, wrapping his arms around her and stroking her back gently.

"Don't be sorry, you have nothing to be sorry about. It's OK. Aw, don't cry," Jonah whispered. He kissed her forehead, sending chills down her spine. She tried to breathe, but her breath caught in her throat and she coughed. Jonah pulled away from her to let her breathe.

"OK. I'm good. Thank you," Ellody sighed, wiping her face and taking a deep breath.

"Good. So, what did you want to tell me?" Jonah asked. Ellody frowned, rethinking her decision to tell him she liked him. Maybe now wasn't the best time. Suddenly, she remembered Tatum, and realised she couldn't date him anyway. There's no point in telling him I like him because it just makes things awkward. Especially since he has a girlfriend. Why does every guy I like have a girlfriend?
