«Nice face, Potter!»

"I always think of you before I fall asleep. The words you said. The things we laughed about, and the silent moments we shared"

Like every other day, people were mocking them through the corridors. It didn't matter their house, their year, because everyone disliked them at least a little. For this reason, they always walked to classes and to meals together.

They were, as many teachers said, glued to each other.

However, this time was different. Because Scorpius felt a fit of sudden anger growing into him, into his heart,

"Remember, for example, when we had just returned to Hogwarts to attend the sixth year and I told you, or better, yelled that you had a nice face?

That was the year when all changed. When I lost everything. When we lost each other".

«Don't you dare tell him that thing again» his voice was firm, steady. He turned his head to the student who had talked.

«Why? You're jealous of your boyfriend, Malfoy?» it was William, a sixth-year Gryffindor, the friend with Rose, Scorpius remembered.

The above-mentioned was in a rage. He felt the walls of Hogwarts around them starting to spin and he found himself walking towards the redhead, «He's not my boyfriend!» he shouted, leaning his head closer to his in a pretty much intimidating way. They were the same heigh, «And if he was, why couldn't I be jealous? Why would you care?»

«Look, you know that the rumours have already spread, it's useless,» suddenly Scorpius noticed that around the boy there were others' Gryffindors, probably his friends and they were all sneering, smirking, «That yesterday a Ravenclaw found you and your Potter in the girls' bathroom,» his voice was dramatic, mocking him and the dark-haired behind, «Sat one in front of the other, holding hands, probably just after he had just finished sucking your dick-»

Scorpius felt angry. So damned angry.

So he punched him.

-

«Why did you do that?»

The young Slytherins were in the Hospital Wing, the raven-haired boy sat next to the blond who was laying on the couch motionless just like Madame Pomfrey had told him to, «You even ask?»

«Yes, Scorp» the shorter answered, whispering. He couldn't believe what had happened, «Yes, I even ask you. You have got into a fight!»

«And so?» he rolled his eyes.

«And so?» Albus repeated, shaking his head in disappointment «So you're Scorpius Malfoy, you're the nerd, the geek, the perfect student, you don't get into scuffles!»

«Scuffles, what an archaic word for you! You have read it somewhere when you opened a book by mistake?»

«Stop the games, Scorpius» he snapped, starting to feel angry «You got hit, you're injured!»

"How you take care of me makes me fall in love with you even more."

Yes, it was true. He had blood all over his chin, coming from his nose and upper lip and bruises here and there. Fortunately, the worse was under his clothes, also dirtied by blood.

«And it could have gone even worse!» Albus was starting to raise his voice, causing everyone in the room to turning their heads to them «For what? They were just mocking us like every fucking time! Why did you have to do that?»

«This time was different, Albus» he was getting mad again. Because he felt powerless: he couldn't tell him what was going on, «You don't understand!»

«Then explain me!» he was now screaming «You're acting strange since we got back to Hogwarts and it's starting to piss me off!»

«Then leave me!»

The whole room fell incredibly silent.

«Are you going insane, Scorpius?» he yelled, getting immediately up, shocked. The light-blue eyed had never told him to go away.

«You heard me,» he repeated, his tone now steadier «leave me alone».

«You're crazy»

«I don't want you here»

Albus didn't reply. He couldn't have since he had remained speechless. Without stopping looking at Scorpius in front of him, he started to pull back, without words.

The only thing he said before leaving the Hospital Wing was, «Give me a call when you sort yourself out, Malfoy».

"I should have left you before all this happened, I should have acted cold as ice, distant, after our first kiss. I remember telling myself I would never fall in love because it will always end, and leave me heartbroken, yet I fell for you and I forgot how to think straight. Were we both losing our minds? Holding on to misery but calling it hope. Sometimes suffering is just suffering. It doesn't make you stronger. It doesn't build character. It only hurts. I think we were meant to be but we did it wrong."

Remembering what his father had written in the diary, Scorpius thought he had done the right thing.

He had to keep the distances between Albus and him. Before it was too late.
