«Come on, blondie, get up» it was a girl's voice who had talked, uttering «I can't carry you to the dormitory. You're slender but I'm not so fit»

Scorpius suddenly recognised the voice despite the numbness and the dreadful headache he was feeling: it was Michelle's who had helped him get up from the floor, Pansy Parkinson's only daughter.

«Yeah, thank you...» his voice was hoarse, raspy. He sounded like he hadn't said a word in days. «What time is it?»

Although the blond had gotten up, the dark-haired girl persisted with his arm around the other's chest, holding him, «Two in the morning»

The grey-eyed tried to walk but his knees were weak and his legs gave in. Again. Fortunately, Michelle was there and didn't let him fall on the ground.

«Put your arm around my shoulders, you git» she ordered «It'll help me»

The taller did as she said and they started walking through the corridor in silence.

«For how much I have been laying there?» Scorpius spoke when they turned the corner. They were proceeding to the dungeons.

«I should ask you» her voice was full of sarcasm. It reminded Scorpius of Albus' «What were you doing passed out in the aisle near the library at two in the morning?»

«You found me. I could ask you the same» he replied, hastily.

Scorpius unexpectedly thought of his father's diary:

"«What brings you here, Potter?» I asked you and you answered, «I could ask you the same».
I was there for you, Harry. I had come after you. I wanted to ask you to forgive me. For what I had done, for how I had betrayed you, I had broken our promise.
I wanted you to bring me home".

She didn't reply and once again silence fell between them.

«Why weren't you with your boyfriend?»

«He's not my boyfriend» he snapped instantly.

«Well, whatever he is, why weren't you with him? You are always sticking to each other» she sighed «Always together. I don't know how you two never argue»

Scorpius' lips opened in a melancholic smile «Trust me, we do argue. A lot.»

«If you say so,» they turned another corner «I suppose you two fought seriously since you were almost dying from hibernation on the floor at two in the morning and he hadn't come to look for you»

The blond stayed silent.

«However, if I were you, I wouldn't let him go- I mean- I wouldn't let him drift apart» she paused and Scorpius looked at her, now interested «You haven't heard this from me, but I have accidentally listened to some girls in our year talking, after yesterday Quidditch match» she hesitated, a grin on her face but her tone of voice sounded urgent. Worried.

«They've chosen one of them. I think a Ravenclaw in our year, who has never bullied or mocked you and your precious best friend. Her name's Kathleen. Tiny, short, brunette with green eyes» she stopped for a second «They want to put a prank on him. On Potter. Make him fall in love with her and then break his heart and mock him in front of the whole school».

"Jealousy is thick in me like poison in my veins. It fuels my rage and sets the stage for all this useless pain. Jealousy is odd. The closer you get to love the more it's there. But the further you fall into love the less that it's there. I have nothing to worry about. You whisper this in my ear. I'm not the jealous sort, but still, I am afraid. I snake my arms around your waist, bury my nose in the crook of your neck. I close my eyes and try to remember the clean scent of your detergent. You say that you love me, and my heart thuds. It trusts you'll choose me. It hopes you'll always choose me. But love, I must confess that so far, no one else has. I'm not the jealous sort, but I've also never been lucky"

Scorpius knew what his dad meant in that exact moment.

«Thank you so much for telling me, Michelle» he muttered «And for having found me. I don't know how to repay you»

They had finally reached the Slytherin dormitory. They entered still clenching onto each other and the dark-haired helped him to climb up the first stairs to arrive at the male's hall. Then she halted. «Don't worry, we'll find a way» she grinned and Scorpius couldn't help but smile despite he was still feeling hurt.

«Thank you for helping me, really» it was more: thank you for helping me not to die from hibernation and for helping me protect my...

My soulmate Scorpius thought.

"If I were a colour, it'd be green: the sickly sweet scent of thorny bushes. It paints me over with jealousy, always wanting the limelight and the taste of your lips on mine.
Thick acrid-smelling paint covering me like a second-skin(sin) after existence.
This is my flaw: carving my nails into the points so I can scratch my way into places I never deserved. I'm the green of neon lies and false promises.
I'm the green of over-saturated gardens and manufactured perfection. I'm the green of festered want.
So paint it on me. Show the world my true colour"

«It's okay. I had fun spilling some tea. Now go, I don't want to see some boys sleeping in their underwear» she drifted away and climbed down, leaving him there. She started to walk towards the girl's wing when Scorpius called her back.

«Good night Michelle,» he whispered «I would like to talk with you again»

«Just because our parents were friends, it doesn't mean we have to» the blond knew that the smirk on her face was a smile «Go to sleep and dream, Malfoy. And take care of your Potter»

Before entering the dormitory the grey-eyed mumbled to himself: «I'm trying but it's harder than I excepted».

to be honest, the next chapter is my favourite.
