«What if we try to ask Albus Dumbledore?» Scorpius suddenly said.
«Ask Dumbledore?» Albus turned his head to him. He was the little spoon, that afternoon. Or better, evening. Three hours had already passed since they had got there, «He's dead».
They both had lost track of time. Just like always. Laughing, talking, Albus making jokes about how Rose had fallen from her broom that morning at flying class and Scorpius telling him not to because she was still her cousin.
And kissing. And holding onto each other as if the other one was the only thing that mattered.
"Sometimes I just want to get lost in your green eyes. We would be the only thing that matters. Sometimes I only want to get lost in your eyes forever.
And it terrifies me".«The portrait, Al» Scorpius sighed, «We could ask his portrait. I still can't understand why you ended up in Slytherin» he grinned «To be here you should have a minimum of intelligence-»
«Hey! You're the nerd of the couple» he felt his scars hurting for a second. It was the word couple.
Another thing they had to remember not to say.
«We don't need another one» the raven-haired punched his arm, still around his waist, not as hard as he wanted. «Anyway, why should we ask him?»
«He is, or better, he was the greatest sorcerer of the century, you know» the blond looked at Albus right in the eyes and let out a heavy breath «He must know something about the curse, no?»
«Meh, I don't know» the shorter, feeling his neck starting to hurt, turned his head and looked away, his eyes now fixed on how the water shined in the lake, «Probably».
Silence fell between them for at least one entire minute before the grey-eyed spoke again, «You should» he whispered «You should be the one who asks him»
«Why not together?»
He felt Scorpius fingers caressing his skin delicately as if he wanted to soothe him «Because someone could see us. And hear us. And remember what we agreed? We don't want people to know».
Yes, they had agreed on that. It would have been too dangerous for everyone. Someone could have provoked one of them and cause the reaction of the other. Because Albus and Scorpius would have done anything to defend the other and that would have put each student in danger.
So they decided to keep the secret.
"You were the only secret I didn't want to hide. Because I wanted to scream to the whole world how I loved you, how your touch was the only thing that could calm me, how I would have died for you. But I had to stay silent.
I would just have put everyone in danger. Myself, my family and you.
You. The only thing that mattered".«And you because you two have the same shitty name» Scorpius added, chuckling.
At once, Albus turned to him and sat upon his lap, hitting him with few weak punches on the chest. The taller was laughing and it was like a lullaby to Albus' ears.
«You know I don't like Dumbledore» Albus complained when he had finished. Yet, he remained to sit on the blond's lap, his legs spread and his naked feet touching the grass under them.
«I know» their eyes locked. Scorpius had his back against the tree and, with his arms still around the brunette's waist, he held Albus tighter in them «But he liked your father. And he likes you. He would tell you anything you want if you ask».
Albus seemed to think about it for a second. Then he leaned closer to him, placing his head on the blond's chest and closing his eyes, letting his scent invading his nostrils «Okay, okay. You're right» he muttered, «I will try».
