Electing The Alpha

Chapter 20:

I alighted from Aaron's car and then he and Danny left. I walked towards my house. I enjoyed bowling today.
I saw another poster of Jake on our neighbour's pole. I went towards it and yanked it from the pole.

I took a better look at it. It was really Jake on it. It had a number at the bottom and the cash prize as a reward. He needs to know about this.
I folded the poster and put it in my purse. Then I entered the house.
It was 3:30pm. Everyone would be back home by four. I decide to give them a surprise dinner.

I enter the kitchen and look at all the stuffs in here. Okay so I decide to prepare some chicken fajitas for dinner.
I begin.
I get 1/2cups and one table spoon of extra virgin oil.
1/4 cups of lime juice from three limes
Two teaspoons of cumin
1/2 teaspoons of crushed red pepper flakes.
1 1b boneless skinless chicken breasts
Kosher salt
Freshly ground black pepper
3bell peppers, thinly sliced.
1 large onion, thinly sliced
Tortillas, for serving.

Am glad my dad got all the groceries needed to make this special dinner!
I take a large bowl and whisk together 1/2 cup oil, lime juice , cumin and red pepper flakes. Then I season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper. Then I add them to the mixture in the bowl and toss to coat. Then I put it in the fridge to marinate for at least thirty minutes.

I heat remaining tablespoon oil in a large skillet over medium heat. I then add the chicken from the fridge and cook until golden and cook through, eight minutes per side. Then I let it rest for ten minutes.

"Nicole! What are you doing here?" Mom's voice comes in.
"I'm preparing a special dinner for us mom" I say
"Mmm! Smells good! What are you cooking?" Mom asks.
"Chicken fajitas" I reply.
"Its a long time I've actually prepared some! Well go on" Mom says and leaves.

I slice the chicken into strips. Then I add onion to skillet and cook until soft. I then toss everything until it combines then I put them in tortillas and placed each tortilla on one porcelain plate.

"Nicole! I'm back" Trina says and comes to hug me.
"Is that chicken fajitas?" She asks
"Yes Trina! Its a surprise dinner" I reply.
"Nice"she says.

"Trina! Can you please take four bottles of Pepsi cola to the dining table for me?" I request.
"Sure" Trina says and opens the fridge.
Mom enters.
"Thanks sweetheart! For the surprise dinner! I wouldn't have to cook this evening" mom says sweetly.
"You're welcome mom!" I reply.
She helps me transport the food to the dining hall. I remove my apron and sit down to eat with my family.

"This dinner smells good! I hope it tastes the same way it smells" Dad says and I chuckle.
"I haven't tasted it yet dad" I reply.
"I'll taste it" Daddy says and we all watch him take a bite and chew. I hope its good.

"Mmmm! Delicious" daddy says.
I giggle. I was so anxious to hear what he'll say! Its like I was in a cooking competition and a judge was tasting my food.

We began to eat. Trina looked happy today. I want to know if something happened. Maybe today's makeover had an effect on Mason! I stifle a giggle.
I liked the dinner I prepared. It was tasty! My dad was right.

When it was six, we were done with dinner and Trina and I washed all the porcelain plates.
Then I dragged her into my room.
We were both holding two bottles of Pepsi cola and she was still in the outfit I chose for her today.

"I liked the food you cooked Nicole! It was yummy" Trina tells me.
"Yeah I know! Now tell me! How'd it go?" I yell quite ecstatic. Curiosity was killing me. I open my drink and sip a little.

"Actually, for the first time in my life, Mason said Hi to me today" Trina says and my mouth goes open.
"Like seriously?" I ask.
Trina nods.
"What about his crush?" I ask.
"She kept looking at me all day! Its like she was jealous of me or something! I swear to you that she has never looked at me like that until today" Trina spits.
I giggle and gulp my drink. Trina also takes a gulp of hers.
