A story in which a girl who is afraid to fall in love uses the word 'wuv' as a less meaningful substitute.
I made it to the beach pretty quickly, I should hope so too after practically sprinting there.
Payton was already there, probably already knowing I'd meet him there before he'd even messaged me.
I froze when we were about a foot or two away from each other, unsure as to whether or not I could hug him. I wanted to, I really did, but I didn't want to risk being shoved away. That would have hurt, emotionally more than anything.
I looked up into his brown eyes, offering a soft smile. "Hey." I greeted, a bit more nervously than I would have liked. He smiled back, "Hey...I'm so sorry for ignoring you. I was just mad you hadn't told me, and I just haven't been in the best place lately-" "I know." I cut him off, my tone still soft and gentle. "I remember you telling me, it's why I'm not going to hold this against you." I added, making him smile a bit more. "You're not?" "I'm not... if you promise you'll just talk to me next time. Even if it's just 'I'm not in the mood to talk right now', I'll understand." He, of course, agreed to that, frantically nodding his head as a grin began to form on his face. "I will, I promise!" He exclaimed as he tackled me in a hug, which I obviously accepted, though he did almost knock me off of my feet which made me giggle a bit, also making me hug around the back of his neck tighter. "I missed you, loser." I whispered, and he squeezed me a little tighter as he replied, "I missed you too."
We kinda just stayed like that for a while, comfortably holding onto one-and-other for at least five minutes before he pulled back a little, though he still held onto my waist, he only really pulled back enough to look me in the eyes. "Come sleep at mine tonight?" He suggested, and I pretended to think about it. "Hmmm, I don't know. What if you kidnap me?" I joked, earning a playful eye roll from himself. "I won't. Please? We can watch some Disney movies, eat popcorn- I got toffee, I know it's your favourite." My eyebrow quirked at that, a smug yet questioning look on my face. "You already planned on me saying yes?" I quizzed, a smirk forming on my face, and I could tell he was embarrassed by how he looked down at the ground before looking back up at me. "Maybe. C'mon, if you love me you would." He pleaded, now taking my hands in his. Love? We're saying love now? I don't recall this being a thing.
As if reading my thoughts, he quickly corrected himself, "Wuv, I mean. Whatever it is." He was getting flustered, and I couldn't bare to see him looking so helpless. "Fineeee, you win. Let's go to yours." "Yes!"
I giggled as he dragged me excitedly away from the beach, practically skipping with me to his house, which I had to join in on, of course.
