"Watch out!" a watch guard shouted. Part of the new wall couldn't withstand the winter weather. It's been a few weeks since the wedding and everything was in chaos. Thunder made everything shake and lightening struck closely to our camp. The rain was pounding on our faces as we all tried to pull the wall back up.
"It's too heavy to lift up! We don't have enough people!," someone shouted.
"Then we pull it up! Gets some ropes!" Bellamy ordered.
A few spread out to look for some as the rest of us continued to hold the wall from further damage.
"Right now we are most vulnerable. Don't shoot right away," Bellamy handed guns to some people, "Ammunition is low. Split up!"
More people left the wall. I could feel the weight getting heavier. None of us could feel our hands and feet anymore because of the cold. Just then, Leyla ran to me with an arm full of ropes.
"Here! This was all I could find!"
She started to tie them to the head part of the wall; I followed. More people came back with more ropes. As soon as we finished tying, we went to the foot part of the wall and pulled. The wall slightly raised, but went back down.
"Pull!" I gritted through my teeth. I saw Leyla pulling in the corner of my eye.
"Leyla! This is too dangerous for you!"
"It's fine I got this!"
Raven then came to her side and helped her pull. People who were on the inside pushed upwards and we finally got it up. We scrambled to tie it down and put rocks along the bottom. Suddenly an arrow flew past my head and hit the wall.
"Get inside!" I ordered. A shower of arrows came down as we all got inside.
"Is anyone hurt?," Clarke asked.
A guy stepped up with a bloody hand. Clarke took him to the medical tent. We could still hear arrows being shot at the wall.
"Everybody get to your posts! Extra guns are in the storage tent! Don't waste time and don't waste amos!" Bellamy instructed. People everywhere were running around. I went and got myself a gun, but as soon as I got to the wall again, I had the same nauseous feeling. I leaned against a tree stump and clutched my lower stomach.
"Are you okay?," a girl asked me. I looked up and saw Maya.
"I'm fine. It's the cold."
Bellamy came over, "I think you should rest. The rain isn't doing you any good."
"Well it isn't doing anyone good."
We were interrupted by Shane, "The ambush of arrows stopped, but someone's just standing there."
Being curious myself, I went to a post and looked through the scope of my gun.
"Anya? What is she doing here?"
Then Anya said, as if she heard me, "I'm hear to make a negotiation."
Everyone was silent. I glanced over at Bellamy and got down from the post.
"We have to talk to her."
"No, when they open the gate we shoot her."
"No! Bellamy don't! She's unarmed."
"That doesn't mean the one's in the trees aren't."
Two guards opened the gate and Bellamy stood there with his gun pointed at her. A few others stood by his side. Anya didn't move an inch.
"What do you want from us?," Bellamy said sternly.
"Your leader."
Clarke came running to my side.
"What is she doing here?"
"She wants to talk to you about a negotiation."
Clarke nodded and hesitated to walk. Anya saw Clarke and said, "I want the other one."
She pointed at me; a wave of shock came over me. I stepped up to Bellamy's side and he grabbed my arm.
"It's fine," I assured him. I walked out of the camp border.
"He'a going to be a brave one."
"Who's he? What are you talking about?"
"You know what I'm talking about," she looked at my stomach and looked back at me again, "The women of our tribe cannot produce anymore children. The Mountain Men poisoned our water sources a few years ago. We need your baby to be our next leader."
I looked back at Bellamy's shocked expression.
"How do you know?," I asked her quietly.
"I knew you weren't dead when Lincoln was supposed to kill you," she slowly circled around me, "I saw signs on your body, your cheeks and fingers were slightly swelled."
"My hands were tightly tied together, they didn't have enough blood circulation-"
"A true leader would sacrifice anything for his people," she barked at me. I could hear guns shifting and people murmuring worriedly.
"You have two days to decide. If you do, everyone lives and our tribes live in harmony. And if you don't," she paused, "We go into war."
She starred at me intently before she disappeared into the forest.
Bellamy came up to me, "Are you okay?"
"Ye-yes," I was a little awed.
He led me inside."Is it true?," Bellamy asked softly. We were inside the medical tent.
"True about what?"
He gave me a canteen filled with water, "... the baby."
I set the canteen down and sighed.
"Why didn't you tell me?," he crossed his arms and leaned against a table across from me.
"There were more important things for you to worry about than me."
"It doesn't make sense... We didn't even-"
"I know..."
"Then who?"
He sounded kind of hurt.
"Bel you know I would never hurt you like that."
"...Who?"
"That time when," I closed my eyes, "Murphy took me and..."
I opened my eyes again and saw him pacing around the room.
"Murphy...," he scoffed, "Murphy, murphy, murphy."
"Bel," I called. I knew he was mad.
He stop pacing and picked up the nearest object and threw it. I closed my eyes as I heard him let out his anger out flipping and throwing everything.
"Murphy you bastard!"
As I opened my eyes again, he was just standing there looking like a mad man. I slowly walked over and wrapped my arms around him.
"I'm sorry I did 't tell you."
"It's not your fault," he whispered and hugged me tightly.
We pulled away and I said, "I'm going to have this baby."
He pulled away from me, "What?"
"I know that you loathe Murphy, but this baby is my choice and I choose to have it."
"Your just going to give it to Anya after everything? Just like that?"
"It's for our people and plus he or she," I put my hand on my stomach, "will have a better chance to live with people who know the ground better than we do."
"I would rather prevent him or her from see any of this at all!"
"Are you telling me to get an abortion?!"
We were yelling at each other at this point.
"I don't want to lose you to birthing a baby that we won't get a chance to see grow up!"
"I have a higher chance of dying in open surgery than giving birth! My body is capable of enduring it again."
"You barely got past the first time."
"You weren't there so you wouldn't know."
We stopped yelling and I could feel the tension in the room. He stormed out without saying another word. I knew that what I said had hurt him. I knew he wanted to be there, but he couldn't and he hates himself for that.~
